I 'think' there are more roads around my area which is a good sign.

Also noticed my phone connects & starts up App-Connect faster....bonus.

You shouldn't haven an issue with filespace if you've downloaded the right file. What's the size of your SD card, and what's the size of your download? (Extracted)

You could just remove one of the directory regions, did you format your SD Card? If so, you need to select the smallest file cluster size otherwise you will run out of diskspace...

I have no problem with the file size and the capacity of the SD card however just thought maybe it would help the sat nav to work more efficient and faster if i remove all the unnecessary files from the card since i won't be using them anyway?

Unless the programmers were idiots, deleting the files won't have an improvement in performance. But I can't vouch for that. Maybe it does index it every bootup?

Just no. The unit will load the files it needs, and won't load what it doesn't. And regardless, more files in memory won't slow the system down unless the memory is filled and it needs to swap. Either way, deleting "unnecessary" files is not a solution that's likely to result in anything other than a broken navigation system.

Sorry if my question sounds a bit dumb as i have not IT background and given that i come from Windows platform.. i always delete unnecessary files to speed up my comp .
The reason why i started question the unit is because on and off my sat nav would go off then restart and reload the map. so i thought maybe deleting the unnecessary files would help... maybe its not the map issue but my unit needs a firmware update?

Thanks for this - confirmed that VW have no idea about this update. Managed to update both map and POI with zero issues.

Hey, thanks for the updates and feedback from so many of you. Given the VAG and dealer attitude to customers it's awesome to see such an active community helping each other and remaining positive!

I have a 2015 Golf MK7 GTI and am doing the map upgrade again (MIB1 V2 SD card).

Are there any firmware updates for the base unit to provide improved responsiveness or say.... remotely correct pronunciation?

Also meant to ask..... is the POI download that was listed a few pages back able to be used on the MIB1 system at all, or is there one available that covers Brisbane? I find it pretty useless right now - even for hospitals and such.

Quick query before I go seeking VCDS assistance...

When I press "traffic" I simply get a blank page stating traffic reports 0 .... is this a sign that it is active and there are none, or that the system is not receiving / displaying them? I have TP and RDS switched on in the settings for radio and media (TP).
