Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Cool that's mostly what I couldn't find on Google.

            Worthy investment?

            • I hope so I bought two sets one for my mk6 and one for my mk7 .... After having to repair wheels which costs several hundred dollars thanks to the wife and Er myself I would rather buy these ... I researched multiple different types and these look the best....very easy to fit and won't damage the wheels

I had them on the motorsport wheels I put on my Polo.

They kept working loose from that rim tyre combination so I eventually removed them.

                  • Has anyone put LEDs into the existing rear lights?

I know you can get replacement LED lights as in the GTI Performance and R, but I have seen some examples in the US of LEDs in the original rear light cluster and that light pattern in a diffused sort-of LED looks quite good. I imagine it would also be a lot cheaper and wouldn't have any risk of throwing up a coding error.

                          • Is it possible to get that burnt exhaust tip look by using a blow torch on the stock twin pipes? I think it'll look pretty cool!

                            • Not true, you can heat anodise S/S. Stainless screws are "blued" using the heat method in horology.
Heat colouring S/S is also common in knife making, I've done it a few times.

That is the impression I was under. So would be possible to do on the stock exhaust tips? Thing is I can't take them off so I might melt the bumper, so might want to be wary of that. I could just get some tips and burn them I guess.
