Maybe they wanted the "Front and rear, carpet with Golf badging and white trim highlight" or the "Front and rear, rubber with Golf embossing" instead of the bog standard one

(I've always ordered the rubber ones...)

I have the brochure, and have looked online, but it is not obvious what it comes with (and if i ask the dealer they'll prob try to sell me something) Have learnt a bunch of things from here and others, but am a VW novice. I've never bought a new car till now, so be gentle

        Cheers

Included mats are a very low pile carpet with no embossing or branding and feel almost like velvet. Contoured around trim as seen in the pic

I use universal mats on top to be a bit harder wearing and preserve my VW carpet.

I also manufactured some foot rests in propeller plate to stop scuffing of the plastic rests. Pics don't show the one for the right hand rest.

I replaced my boot light with an LED bulb off ebay for $3 and its a lot brighter now.

I want to replace the foot well lights with red LEDs from DAAutokey however cannot tell if the fittings are a sealed unit for the MK7. Anyone had them out or know if the bulb is removable?

Could you post some information on the BT adapter and the app. Thanks.

How do those springs work with the adaptive damping/chasis in the Mk7?

also, just as follow up I pulled the foot-well lights and they do appear to be a purpose designed LED unit. I could not separate the clear part from the back completely and the LED board appears to be hardwired not a wafer type bulb.

I tried brake-light repair tape (red) and it was way too dim to be useful. Might be different if I can place it inside the clear cover instead as the tape doesn't fit snug on the textured outer surface (so could be reflecting a lot of the light back). Not to sure where to go next on this other than replacing the entire fixture with one I can place a bulb in or colour in the LED with a red felt tip .

Generally shouldn't be an issue as it's the dampers that are adjusting (and steering), not the springs.

It's coilover systems that cause the issue as you then need to look at the KW DDC unit to maintain the adjustability control and the price rockets up.

I'll be curious to see more thoughts/reviews on the ride quality of the Eibachs.

                      • No problem Dutch once fitted i'll post up my thoughts. Bear in mind i currently have 17" Dijons so ride quality might vary slightly from those running 18's.

                        • I'm keen to see how your car looks Wezza, was considering the springs but the dip outside our garage is steep enough to scrape the plastic guard under the front lip so lowering the car any further won't do the front bumper any favours.

                            Hey,

The bluetooth scanner tool I bought was this one. Mini Auto CAR V1 5 ELM327 OBD2 Odbii Bluetooth CAN BUS Scanner Tool Android | eBay

There are a few others out there, but that's the one I bought and it's working perfectly with my Galaxy S4 and the torque app. You also need the torque app, you can get the free one, but there's torque pro which is about $5. I'd suggest getting the pro version, not only for the features, but the fact that it's just an astonishingly useful piece of software and well worth it for the money.

Anyway, first thing you do is plug the adaptor in the OBDII port, you'll find it's underneath the front dash, I believe it's below the small compartment near the door. A word of caution, some people suggest that it can drain your battery, I left my parkers on overnight and I had 90% remaining. So really, as long as you drive your car frequently, you should not run into any issues.

Once that's done, start up torque. In the home screen, you'll see 4 icons on the top. The two left most are the important ones, connection to the adapter, and connection to ECU. Once they're all solid, you're good to go. Then all you do is go into real time information, use the pre existing gauges, or add your own!

True, although I'd like to think that you're change in ride quality will be roughly in the same ratio as one size up.

As you noticed in the wheel thread even the OEM wheels react well to a drop in ride height from a looks perspective, any plans to change yours or sticking to the Dijons? Some pics either way will be good on the thread. Even VW know a reduced wheel gap looks good, a fair bit of their promotional material shows cars runnings at reduce height I reckon.. or just very clever photography.

                              • Yeah i'm keen to get some 18's on there eventually, currently looking but nothing has really stood out for me. I'm swaying towards keeping an OEM look but that might change.
