Bridgestone Potenza RE050A on all MY14 and presumably MY15, if the below photos are any guide, which I took last week in Bayford Volkswagen Camberwell (not my selling dealer), where they have a new DSG Lapiz Blue R in the showroom with leather, sunroof and DA package. Those with a keen eye will notice the production date of these tyres is recent (mid May).Originally posted by stephenR View Postanother quick question
does anyone know what 235/35 R19 tires are the new Golf Rs coming with?

Dutch77, you would have have a special interest in this post, as these are precisely the size and model of what's fitted to your GTI. It provides a different perspective as far as car model and colour is concerned, and it's obvious the wheel gap is far more pronounced on this regular model than yours with 15mm lowered suspension. The R with a further lowering of 5mm can only help, I hope.Originally posted by Dutch77 View PostOZ LEGGERA HLT - REVISITED

Yep, there is no doubt this car needs some lowering; I'd prefer my GTI to be a tad lower with these wheels as well - but working on that issue at the minute. However ignoring that issue I think these wheels (not surprisingly) work well with this model and especially this color.Originally posted by Mikey1 View PostDutch77, you would have have a special interest in this post, as these are precisely the size and model of what's fitted to your GTI. If anyone would like to own a piece of OZ history - the first set in Australia, then PM me.. there is a small chance I might be ready to try something else. Stupid wheel threads..

It might be the spirit we like, but I suspect the Speaker of the House and my bank account would disagree.Originally posted by nma View PostThat's the spirit dutch
Creating this thread is one of the stupidest things I have done - particularly when I even considered some BBS LMs last week and had them priced up. Sanity prevailed and I am looking in other directions now.Originally posted by xxtrickzxx View Postlol this thread is becoming very expensive!

The low is a work in progress.Originally posted by avdo_ View PostHmmm, maybe Mikey1 and I could try and sway you towards some Japanese forged goodness

As for Rays, what would you recommend? Problem is the range is fairly limiting - Mikey's done well with the G25s which are not dissimilar to my OZs, and we're waiting on your new set-up with ZE40s; but after that not really sure what suits and/or fits the Mk7.
Unsure on what the budget will be for the next set, or if indeed there is a next set. Just an idea.

No prizes for guessing which company these guys are looking to mimic with that centre cap and name; although a mesh design doesn't feature in the originals catalogue. Regardless, this does show off a black on black look using a mesh design in gloss finish.

I think that G25's in the same colour as Mikeys would suit your car quite nicely.Originally posted by Dutch77 View PostThe low is a work in progress.

Other options might be the G12 wheel or G27, both forged. Price is good as well, so easier to run it past the Minister for War, Peace & Finance

Mikey would never shut up, I do like the G25s although they still have similarities to my OZs and I would probably not do a similar style twice in a row. But not ruling out by any stretch.Originally posted by avdo_ View PostI think that G25's in the same colour as Mikeys would suit your car quite nicely.

However I think I can rule out G27 as it's not available in a 19 x 8.5, 5 x 112 from what I can gather?
G12 is a nice wheel, not 100% sold on it for Mk7 but give it time - and does have the 19 x 8.5, ET45, 5 x 112 fitment.
Your idea on good price could be different to mine as well.

I'm still married, but the wife's only interest in wheels is that hers need cleaning all the time. A change of pads to ceramic will go a long way to fix that problem.
