Yes they are chunky. Looks like you need some low dust ceramic brake pads to help keep those wheels looking clean. I had the ATE Ceramic pads on my GTI and they good, but I now have the Brembo ceramic pads on my new car and they are honestly just as good and cost about 1/2 the price of the ATE's.

they fit under the guards but the front scrape a little on big bumps unless i have the suspension in race mode, probably try for lower profile when the tyres need replacing.

Wow you managed to fit a 255 wide tyre on? How does it look from a side profile? I had the same wheels in a dark charcoal colour on my white Mk7 GTI with 235/35/19 and they looked amazing (in my humble opinion).

Finally settled on the seemingly rare TSW Bathurst rotary forged wheels.

    Spec:
    TSW Bathurst 19x8.5 ET43 (gunmetal)
    Bridgestone Potenza RE003 235/35R19

Riding on OEM suspension, but I'm currently looking at getting springs (likely Eibach Pro wagon specific springs).

Front wheel view from top - may go an ever so slightly wider tyre next time, as these OEM sized tyres stretch slightly on these wheels, unlike the "same sized" OEM Pretoria's:

    Rear wheel view from top:

Fully loaded for a camping trip, no scrub!! Fitment is PERFECT! (wagon lyfe!)

I'll join in on the new wheels and roof box thread. the hatch is such a practical car so the wagon must be immense, looks good...

Thanks. I was kind of going for the "OEM-Plus" look. The wheels came in silver too which would have looked bigger and much more flashy on the car (especially my colour), but I like the gunmetal being a bit more subtle and being a nod back to the black OEM Pretoria wheels.

I actually just bought some Eibach Pro springs so might have to update with fresh photos when I get them installed. 👍
