A look at two other finishes on the Tec (by ASA) AS2 wheels, the polished black look which is a bit of a VW signature, and anthracite.

      • I found the ride on the Mk 7 R on standard 19's to be quite firm but it was certainly better than dad's Mk 6 R on standard 18's. The comfort setting certainly helps in the Mk. 7. Still found dad's old R a bit crashy even with the comfort setting. You should definitely drive the new R, it is amazing what they can do with 19's now with suspension technology. One of the reasons I went for a GTI Performance was for more ride comfort (also on 19's though!). Obviously set up a bit softer than the R. Coming from my shizer Merc A250 Sport makes the suspension in either car feel like a limousine. The Merc is at least 2 generations behind VW in this respect. It also ran only 18's. I simply did not drive the Merc enough before I bought it. Bottom line, if they won't let you test drive a car for at least an hour, go somewhere else.

If I end up moving to Queensland I'm driving to your workshop and requesting some alone time with these wheels.

I'd love to see the RXX Redline on a black GTI, that red will tie in with the other red perfectly; I've already stated my love for the RXX Silverline on the black R with body kit; while I'm still into the RS for myself.

Although before I consider another wheel swap I think the new tune sounds too tempting..

                    • Anyone seen a GTI with 18" Omanyts? I bought a set a few months back, turns out 1 of them isnt round, tossing up wether to fit them or not. The wheels are presently at my parents place in a different state so can't just sit them next to the car.

I haven't seen a Mk7 yet with Omanyts (and trust me, I've seen a few) but I'm pretty confident they'd come up looking good. They wouldn't be that dissimilar in look to the Lombarthos a few posts up, at least from a distance and I reckon they look pretty smart. We can always do a quick photo edit tomorrow for giggles..

I think they'd suit, although they're not that exciting. I have Omanyts on my Mk6 GTI.

I never really got Omanyts at first but over time I've grown to love them - they're one of VWs best wheels and should be still used as a premium sports/luxury wheel in the range - Golfs and Tiguans particularly.

Here is a bad photo chop - I picked a wheel in sunshine which made it look white on the source car, so then fiddled with things to try and contrast it a little (yes I really need a photoshop program). Anyway it gives the basic idea which I think works fine:
