        • Just drove a GTI PP and an R. I could buy the PP I drove so did just that! Both beautiful cars. Just have to off load the Merc now. A250 anyone? Trying to get some more bucks or I'll trade it in to my dealer. They are good enough to put the GTI away for a few weeks for me to see if I can sell privately.

                • Robina Volkswagen had a white manual 2014 built and complianced. It was a car ordered and then changed to an R. Give Michael Goldsworthy the sales manager a call. Car can be transported easily. I think he also has a csg manual.

                  • Mk7 GTI coming down quicker in price then I would have thought, according to carsales demo dsg standard available from $37990 + o/r , dsg with leather 15000km $39900, or standard drive away from $42k, manual demos under $40k d/a, all without negotiating, don't think VW GTI is selling as well as previous years imo

                    • Interesting. Can you name one or two dealers offering these prices Rogue wolf? I'll give them a call in the morning, I'm in the market for a manual GTI.

                      • Hey pepito

Just jump on carsales & have a look, haven't called any dealers but if it's on carsales that's the price, use this for your pricing range & bargain hard, being end of financial year is a good time to negotiate also

                          • Must have been a rush on GTIs this morning as the only sub $40k car is a demo red manual which is a price leader in Victoria at $39,990.

After that we are back to $43k+ for drive away demos.. which doesn't cut it when I bought new at that mark anyway.

Certainly no issues with GTI sales given the waiting lists that still exist and the reluctance of dealers to swap stock around the country. No doubt VW will have factored in the large increase in competition for the Mk7 across the board, whereas Mk6 pretty much had the market to itself. There would definitely be more concern in maintaining R sales given the Audi price drop, and concern with the fact they just can't shift Scirocco's anymore.

You must have a secret search function I can't access. I get 67 Mk7 GTIs listed on carsales regardless of new/demo/used, location or dealer/private. The cheapest is $38k excluding on roads for a stock 2013 with DSG and over 11,000km - this isn't exactly a bargain given what a new one can be acquired for.

I'm not sure why we are talking second hand private cars but for what it's worth the cheapest is a 5000km stock DSG car for $42k, which falls into the 'tell him he's dreaming' category in any case.

As for end of financial year sales, well naturally it's a great time to buy a car. Even in June 2010 at the height of Mk6 madness when wait times were over six months VW were still willing to flog you any stock they had with free on roads which at the time was a $4-5k freebie with 'no negotiation'.

In fact based on the hard line a lot of GTI buyers are facing from dealers here I'd suggest sales are no problem at all. They were definitely well ahead and pleasing VW the last time they were 'in the media'. There might be a reduction in GTI/R as a proportion of Golf sales but I think that reflects the great quality, standard kit and pricing of the lower models.. and the reluctance of buyers to be scared off by media/message board bias against VW product. Bet there is no mass hysteria because Hondas may suddenly catch on fire via faulty airbags..
