My dealer just rang the ICAA with my details for confirmation, again each dealer may have different procedures - although I'd suggest they'd want a letter/advice from the body, not employer.
Hopefully her membership confirmation or something along those lines is all that's needed. I've found the sample letter in the corporate plus program doc and she doubts anyone in her firm would sign off on it.
Fun times ahead...
Have done a search on this forum, but can't find what I am looking for, so - what's the general consensus for running-in a new Mk7 GTI (manual) ??
Thx.
I'm not sure there is a consensus, as it ranges from the bring it along slowly v the drive it like you stole it brigade.
Wherever you sit with your thoughts I'm sure the consensus is to definitely vary the revs on a regular basis (don't cruise on the highway for periods at one rev speed), and always ensure your oil is up to operating temp before driving it harder (around 90 degrees). I'd also suggest not to baby it either.
I've followed the above fairly well, I drove pretty hard on the VWW cruise but have not looked at any flat out acceleration runs until the oil is ready to play ball.

I hate choosing colours. Buying used generally negates a whole lot of consideration when it comes to colour.
Problem here is I love the white and black in the PP with the red highlights. The CS and NB are also very nice.
The look of a freshly detailed black car is a sight to behold but is it a level of commitment I want to enter into...
In the end my decision will ultimately be based on what's in stock and there seems to be a few black and white ones around. Trying to consider future wheels and thinking the black with bronze or gold wheels would like amazing. Almost a hot hatch version of KITT.
Or the storm trooper look with the white which I love but is it becoming a little dated?
I have looked at the wheel thread in depth and still not finding a lot that I love.
What say you???

..and I thought we'd covered off most wheel styles already on the wheel thread. Geez, what do you like?
As you said, if you're not waiting for an order then your color will be dictated by what stock you can actually get your hands on. There is no right answer, just a whole lot of arguing that eventually delves into whether white is even a color.
Given a choice then you'll need to weigh up care and maintenance v the look you ultimately want to achieve. Generally I'd be aiming for dark wheels/light colored car or vice versa. Only rarely does an all white or all black look work. I'd be quite fond of gold BBS on a black or night blue car though..
Just remember you're buying a $50k car (rounded) with strong quality (if dubiously designed) rims - don't cheapen it with discount rims. Spend up on a set of quality branded rims that complement the car to get the best look.

I've been quoted $45,200 (drive away) on a manual GTI with sunroof, no other options.
Good price guys?
Looks pretty reasonable for a non-corporate deal - keep in mind if it's not white or red then the paint is technically a $500 + share of orc as well.
Given it's end of financial year it would be worth trying to push that down to $44k or get some other gear thrown in, although stock limitations might make it difficult to bargain too far or compare dealers.

Well it's done. Next week I will be sitting in my new GTI PP. White with Vienna and DA. (Didn't really want the DA but the car was in stock) can't wait!
Nice Damienp! Exactly the same as mine. Trust me, you will be very happy with the driver assist. I have radar cruise control in the Merc and it is simply unbelievable. I could never get a car without it now! My new PP is waiting for me, just trying to sell Merc privately or I'll let my dealer have it in a couple of weeks.

I'm really looking forward to it. It will be my first new car and what a car to break that cherry with. If I had the extra cash I would have gotten a new R but I would say I have gotten the next best thing.
When we spoke about the DA we come to the conclusion that it would be a good thing. It won't be my wife's every day driver but I am glad to know there are technologies that will stop her tendency for touch parking.
The only thing that is a real shame is that you can't option the sunroof as I would have. But in the end it's a luxury.
I am sure I will be very happy with the car. I've not driven a PP only the standard Gti and a MKVI R.
In the same boat re current vehicle, taking a big hit but I don't want to deal with the hassle anymore.
I'm devastated about no sunroof. Utter rubbish that VW Australia say you can't put a roof in them ( just like the Mk 5 GTI Pirelli). In Europe you can option a big standard GTI with the PP, on standard 18 inch wheels AND you can get a sunroof! They really think we are stupid. I don't think you should be disappointed with not getting an R. I drove one as well and I think the GTI is a much better all round everyday car. More compliant suspension and not as much constant boom from the exhaust. It's definitely more hardcore than the new Audi S3 that dad has. That is a perfect compromise, but it's $75,000 on the road with options. Still love the Golf R, of course, but the main reason I'm ditching the Merc A250 is the intolerable ride quality.

If the PP had been available on 18s for a tad less I'd have given it some consideration.
Still no idea why VWA has followed the lead of the UK and certain other places with the no 19s + sunroof combo, you can order that combo in some European countries and I've even read that some UK dealers are organising the combo for their buyers regardless. Given the PP locally has been sort of set up as a 'premium' GTI with the xenons and 19s it's odd they cut the sunroof out.. but allow you to add a sunroof to a base model but not xenons.

That's right! That's VWA's line isn't it. Not with 19's. I will consider putting 18's on the PP if I'm not happy but the ride seemed to be ok. I had always planned a GTI with the PP, Xenons, roof and MANUAL. That was my plan for months and was devastated when my dealer confirmed no manual. Then no sunroof! I didn't want 19's either. By chopping out the Xenons from the base GTI I'm sure they'd know that many of us would them consider a PP. I could not have a car without them now. And where's the Discover Pro!!??
Anyone dealt with Prestige Sunroofs in Melbourne? I'm worried it would de-value the car though?
