Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I saw my first one in the flesh today - somebody was giving the beans to a white manual with sunroof in the back streets of cammeray. Sounded tremendous!

    • I took a DSG equipped GTI for a drive today the dealer was pretty busy so unfortunately I had to go out on my own . I was impressed by how it drove so it's definitely on the short list, taking an A250 out later in the week. The quote I was given included $2000 (inc GST) corporate discount so just under $50k with leather and driver assist he did say they weren't discounting at all for private sales so will be interested to see what deals you guys can get.

          • Wheels claim it doesn't. They specifically stated that manual and dsg didn't.

Manual wouldn't but I would expect the DSG models to have it. It's definitely included in overseas models and is demonstrated in this video (at 3:45):

Flip does that include gst or without?

I'm looking at 52500 drive away inc gst for bi xenons leather and driver assist.. I have not gone back yet to negotiate further however I want to know what would be realistic?

Does that include metallic paint and tints too?

                          • what do people think is the approx standard price for the driveaway component ( dealer deivery + rego ) ? 3k ish?

                            • More than that. For my R I think dealer delivery alone was $3K..(but I bought it during a promo which included all on road costs). On NSW RTA website, stamp duty is 3% for under 45k, and 5% on whatever is over 45k. Rego is about 300, green slip is pushing up towards 600 these days.
Number plates standard 41, premium 200 etc etc

Might be worthwhile for me to keep an eye out for those promos
