Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm particularly annoyed about the Dynaudio option being dropped. I seriously do not understand why VWA do not allow you to special order whatever combination of options you want.
I agree. All the nice options I wanted and was more than willing to pay I was denied.

Total toss pots if you ask me...

Hoping the golf R will have a intelligent option list.

Have also realised that the GTI comes with Discover Media NOT Discover Pro which is not even offered here as an option. What a bunch of marketing idiots. No wonder the GTI 7 sales hasn't really taken off.

          Is this a test?

But, no, it's a lot more than $3k.

Dealer delivery is usally $2,500 alone. Even $2,995 on GTIs in the past (gouge).

But ORCs are simply the difference between the manufacturer's list price (eg, $41,490) and the drive away price, eg $46,278 for manual in NSW.

          Looks like about $4,788. Ouch!

          So $1244.70 for stamp duty (@ 3%)
Rego and CTP and plates or whatever $1043.30
          And about $2500 for DD.
If the answer to the Monty Hall problem was 50/50, the contestant, on average, would win the car 50% of the time simply by sticking with their original guess...but you can only win a one-in-three guessing game 33.33% of the time so it can't be 50/50, can it?

Go to Car Prices - Car Research - Search Car Prices & Values Online - RedBook.com.au not only can you price a car with options, but it will also calculate government duties as well as dealer delivery

              • Guy's looking at buying a GTI MK7 but why is there a $1300 difference dearer for leather and bi-xenon compared to pp gti.
If the dealer said because full leather and heated seats I would believe that.
But would it be fair to say 19's & led brake lights to cost around $2000.
So that said is the GTI at $44000 is about $2000 to dear

                • Could you pick one up for $50000 driveway with DSG metallic paint leather and bi-xenon's?

How would you know what the sales figures for the GTI were?
Have you seen the price charged OS for the Discover Pro? It's an extremely expensive option.

VWA have been smart, not idiots, in the way they have reduced the options available on the Golf range. They are also smart in the way they have included adaptive suspension (wow the customers during the test drive) and sat nav as standard.

The 19inch wheel upgrade isn't overly expensive in the UK. LED tailights aren't worth anything as an option.
Full leather and Bixenons are expensive options here. Just buy a PP.

Sales figures was from a local dealer here in Sydney. He mentioned sales has not been to their expectation.

Don't have a problem with them bundling Discover Media as std but why not offer Media Pro as an option for those who want it and are willing to pay for it. And why not DynaAudio. Getting back into my Golf 6 after the test drive yesterday the differences between the Audio and the clarity of the RNS screen with the GTI 7 audio and Discover Media was very obvious.

To me it takes the fun out of what is an excellent car. I agree they have got the DCC right.

That's strange... My dealer told me the opposite. Lol

The company is Dynaudio, not DynaAudio.

Dynaudio and Volkswagen - All there is.

Incidentally, the Dynaudio in the Mk7 is a 400w system (up from 300w in the Mk6) and adds a subwoofer. Hopefully it'll be an option in the R!

You should be able to install a better-than-factory system from component parts (splits, sub and amp), for around the $2k mark.

I am just not too keen to dismantle panels to install stuff aftermarket. It tends to lead to new rattles

Because VW don't want to go down that route anymore. They want to streamline the model range and options.
