Bundling of options into packs has been under consideration for some time AFAIK. There are a ton of benefits of doing it this way, not least of which are better stock control (fewer option combinations) and higher resale.

I think VW USA do similar for the Golf GTI.

Leather on the Merc A250 is a manmade (they call it ecofriendly) version but it does look decent and I thought the micro fibre fabric was also quite a nice touch/feel to it.

You can option real leather on the A250. They have 3 option packages which are all priced at $2,990 which are quite reasonably priced I reckon. Command package, leather package and the convenience package or sth. You have to order the convenience package for climate control aircon with rear outlets though as it is not standard. Blindspot warning is also available as part of one of these packages.

You get free map updates for the first 3 years now. That said I'm more interested in the Pro unit with the Google Earth navigation.

I too think this is quite good and would like it.

Hey guys got a idea it might be a dumb one but it is a idea... If we can work out one of the vins of the gti we can track it on the boat and the other one we should be able to check online it's details... So we can find out what the have fitted to them

Here is a vw.gti vin from nz....WVWZZZAUZDW157759 the last six numbers are e only thing hat changes ... Any ideas...

Or do we just keep trying the boat shipping list ...

Sadly VW VINs don't differentiate between models, just factory, chassis type and serial number. Here's the VIN for a 103TDI for instance...

I'm back! Word is that they are going to have a cheap, boggo GTI as well as a more expensive luxury GTI as well as a more performance orientated model... Whatever that means, all that I am certain about is that the first cars start arriving very soon indeed!

As long as they all have the option of manual that's all I care about.

I can understand that they wouldnt offer it since you hardly see any 3dr GTIs but they look just that little bit nicer, easily worth any perceived 1st world inconvinience.

So you have 39k 44k and 49k for the GTI, PP and R which makes for a decent separation.

no way gti will be 39k. or else no one will buy the lower models. but i wouldnt be complaining if it does come in at that price

$39k + ORC sounds about right. That's still a big enough step up from the highline which is pretty well equipped itself (I'm not sure everything on the highline will be by default std on the Gti)

Yep the Mk6 3Dr GTI Manual was $38,990. 3Dr DSG $41,490
