After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. The car can deadlock (or not depending on how you set it up) the inner door handles when you lock them with the remote. Makes things a bit harder for thieves but also prevents anyone you might lock in the car from getting out. Not good if it's your kids and it goes on fire. Good if you are a kidnapper and stop at the servo for fuel on your way to your lair.

If you do need to lock kids in the car I think the button on the B pillar stops the alarm going off when they move. Check the manual on that one though. I thinks it's main reason is to prevent the alarm going off if the car needs to be towed or something like that.

          • Yeah Dutch, I honestly was happy with any colour but there was a great deal to be had on this red one.

Really impressed by it, only thing I want to improve is matching up the globes everywhere for a whiter light. No hurry though.

Understand, that's how I ended up with a red Mk6. I specifically chose CSG for my Mk7 as the wait was the same for all colors - would have dealt for any at the right price.

Let me know when you suss out the light globes, I've been meaning to do the same - veew has done most of the legwork in the headlights thread. Might be able to save a few bucks on freight if we split it.

After exactly four months wait, my tungsten silver 110TDI Highline with DSG, Shetland leather, sunroof, bi-xenons, driver assist package and various other bits and pieces has arrived.

                Whoopee!

                • Ordered: 90TSI Comfortline wagon, Pacific Blue. New family car for the new family member due in a few months.

Have to wait until October, though. Hopefully it arrives before our other major delivery...

Not getting shetland is likely my biggest regret (given you can't even get them anymore). Did they use an LED light for the numberplate tailgate light on this?

My order is in (103TSI, DSG, black leather, roof, xenons, DAP) but I'm struggling to find a buyer for my 118TSI; seems that value has dropped significantly over the past six months to the point where I might not be able to afford the switchover now.

You might have missed the Shetland, but at least you got the xenons!

And yes, I don't know whether it's unusual, but each of my numberplate tailgate light assemblies has two LEDs in it.

Good luck with the 118TSI, I sold mine about 4 months ago to a (still very happy) colleague...

                      Cheers

                        • MK7 Golf Wagon Highline TDI R Line

So on Saturday I order my MK7 Golf MY15 Highline TDI with R Like pack, anyone else here grabbing one of these? I decided on Pure White with electric panoramic roof and Driver assist.

Due for delivery early December, can't believe in have to wait that long.

                          • They look sharp, I may be in the market for 1, my R a write-off and my wife is pushing for a sensible replacement! Is the R-Line a 2k premium on the wagon as well?

                            Comment

                            • Yeah, but what you get for that $2k is worth every cent in my opinion. And they do look awesome don't they....

                              • I don't log enough miles but a TDI R Line wagon with a tune to bring it in line with what a GTD would be putting out would be a great unit to own. Ideally that configuration with the GTI engine would be perfect, but I guess that's what the Octavia RS is for.

Per the wheel thread the R Line with the Durbans looks sharp, ideally with a mild drop, although you do risk the fantastic Mk7 ride quality.
