Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hopefully they'll come through for you Mikey.

I picked up mine a few weeks ago but had to rush through the whole process too as I was flying out that night. While driving the car back, I could hear a noise coming from the back of the car, sounded like a stone has stucked on to the tyre grooves and was only obvious when you are going really slowly. I forgot all about it after I got home. Now that I'm back, I now realise that it's a screw that has penetrated the tyre. It could've been my fault, but going to see if the dealer is willing to do anything during the complementary service as I have hardly driven the car and I am almost certain that I started hearing the noise shortly after leaving the dealership.

Other than that, the car has been great so far.

                • Picking up my 90TSI in Pacific Blue with Aspen alloys instead of steel rims this afternoon. Was only ordered 2 weeks ago and according to the dealer was already on the way into the country so I was lucky as that's the colour I was pretty set on and it'll have an MY15 compliance plate on it. Fingers crossed all goes well... Might have to take some pictures on the weekend and post

EDIT: looks like I spoke too soon... had a call from the dealer about 30mins ago to say that there had been a recall on some Polos and Golfs and mine is affected and they can't release the car until it's been checked / fixed which will be next week at earliest... (all over one little locknut to do with the oil filter)

Woah, that's quick, we're still waiting for our GTI ordered back in July.

I still reckon the white looks the best and it's the safest colour on road.

Apart from being one of the unsafer colours visibility wise there are too many silver cars on the road for mine.

Red looks good yes I admit

Hmm, I wonder if this will affect our GTI delivery date ...

I received the VIN today and this is what I get when I run a search on the 2wglobal.com site:

Can anybody hazard a guess when I might receive the car? I'm in Melbourne.

                          Thanks in advance.
I think we ordered our standard GTI around the same time so hopefully it's on the same ship as yours !

Would love to know how you got your VIN. Our dealer said they could only get it for me once the car arrives at their dealership

Std GTI's were harder to find.

I agree red looks good - was tempted and was available now. But at the end decided too racy for me.

Yeah. Some of the other wait times are a killer. 4 weeks is about my limit!!

Well, the dealers clueless The VIN should be available to the dealer once the car is built (or very shortly thereafter). Then you can track its shipping journey from the Motherland through to Oz
