VCDS (VAG-COM) codes and programmable options for Golf Mk7

If you look at my tweak HERE, you will find a set of instructions for adding the 3rd Brake light to the hazard warning function.

In theory, a similar set of changes should work for including the hazard warning function into the "angel-eyes" (U LED lights) on your Golf R. BUT - I suspect that it's not possible for the following 2 x reasons:

1. The LED lights on angel-eye fittings operate differently to the other exterior lamps in that they use 2 x separate Leuchte-sets: one for the lighting functions and a second Leuchte-set for the power-supply to the fittings
2. The Leuchte-set for the lighting functions is normally fully subscribed - meaning that there isn't sufficient spare adaptation channels in the Leuchte-set to implement the hazard warning function

From this experience, it now seems that the success, or otherwise of the Auto Rain close facility is dependent on having the correct rain-sensor installed on the front windshield. Again from experience, it appears that the car MUST have a rain sensor with the part number 5Q0 955 547 WITHOUT ANY SUFFIX to be more likely to succeed. VCDS will report the correct sensor as RLFS, not RLHS. (thanks hadez16 & darkchina811 from RT forum)

Hello, I want to enable this function on my VW E-Golf 2016 (VW Golf 7), U.S Editon.

I think that I have enabled/changed all the things except Part 1: Auto RainClose - Coding Changes ...


I already have the Auto Rain Closing in the Infotainment system menu.

I just modded my 2021 Canadian Mk7.5 GTI and it works perfectly! With the NA models the signal light also acts as another brake light.

One thing for my car in the coding there was no "Brake Light" for A16/17 and A23/24 so I used the German translation of "Bremslicht" for those entries.

Hi 2016 Vw Passat with halogen headlights and halogen daytime runnings lights in fog lamps. Trying to get daytime running lights to stay on with headlights. Ive been through adaptations list but its all german. Anyone know which line to go for

Before addressing your question - let's discuss why the DRLs on this car are factory coded to be switched-OFF when the low-beam lights are activated. This happens because the reflectors in the DRL fittings (also called the "Luminaires") do NOT have the correct cut-off characteristics for nighttime operation.

This means that the DRLs will blind drivers in on-coming vehicles if fully illuminated at nighttime. So, an important part of the tweak to switch-ON DRL with low-beam lights is a dimmed DRL illumination-level after-dark - which is 31% !

For the safety of your fellow drivers, please ensure that this requirement is adopted with this tweak - details of which can be found HERE.

Also, please note that my tweak was written for Aussie vehicles. As such, the instructions are predicated on the default values shown in the "Existing settings" column of the tables in my link. If this UK vehicle does NOT have the same default values - please post-up ONE of the DRL Leuchte-sets. To be clear, I need to see ALL 19 x adaptation channel values in your data!

1. Active Cruise without lane keep assist

Has anyone programmed the ACCC to work without lane keep assist? If I disable lane keep assist, I can't use cruise control at all... (and it's annoying as hell!).

2. Auto Recirculate On

For auto air recirculation to 'on', the images in the below past aren't available... has anyone got the VCDS codes?

Yes, you are correct that my link for the Air Circulation tweak on the MkVII VCDS Tweak - Reference thread no longer works because the pictures in the original link that OP used have now been removed.

With full attribution to yorky - I provide a different set of instructions for the coding change for this tweak

The reason for the my changed instructions for this tweak is because I do not believe that "Hex 41" in yorky post is correct ("Hex 41" originally came from the GOLFMK7 forum).

Here's why I suggest a different set of changes for this tweak:
First - my explanation below must necessarily involve the very strange form of mathematics called "Hexadecimal" and "Binary". I don't apologize for this because modules do NOT use decimal arithmetic. So, whenever 8 x digit Binary numbers are quoted below - remember that they are read from right-to-left. This means that Bit 0 is the right-most digit in a Binary number (and Bit 7 is the left-most digit)

On the long-code string for the 08 module, the upper-nibble (meaning Bit 4-7) for Byte 04 controls 2 x separate aspects of the Air circulation/recirculation function as shown in the VCDS screenshot below

Again as shown - for Bit 6-7, the Air Circulation Type can be either "Credit", or "Normal". AFAIK, mk7 Golfs in Australia use the latter type as factory set which. This means the default value is Hex 00 (i.e. Bit 6 =0, Bit 7 =0)



To activate this tweak Bit 4-5 must be changed to allow the Air recirculation to store the cycle setting. As shown below, this means that Bit 4-5 must have the value hex10 which is equivalent to Bit 4=1, Bit 5 =0



So, combining the two settings above - the change for this tweak is:

Air Recirculation: remember last setting
08 module

• If the factory setting for Byte 04 = Hex00=00000000, change to Hex10 = 00010000.
• If the factory setting for Byte 04 = Hex40=01000000, change to Hex50 = 01010000.

Or, simply - the tweak is: set Byte 04, Bit 4=1 on the 08 module
