It can take a few days to appear once the ship as sailed but if he said mid Oct to arrive in Aus then sounds about right.
It takes about 4-5 weeks to get here one it has sailed.
typos all over in the my last message, meant it does not yet appear on W&W.

    • I'm trying to adjust individual mode in the .5, wanting to adjust the exhaust, and I'm looking at "drive" instead. Does this change both exhaust and transmission change points ?

Yeah, have always loved that colour. White has grown on me though!

I'm coming from a mildly chipped but otherwise stock MK5 GTI to a MK7.5 R, performance likely to be much different?

                      • What's the consensus on running in these new engines?

My current independent VW mechanic recommends running mineral oil and hammering hard it for the first 1000kms or so for the piston rings to seat properly. He mentioned this after indicating my current MK5 GTI (owned since new and using synthetic since new) consumed a bit of engine oil .

                        Opinions on advice?

Considering how they are run-in during production (run hard to the redline several times and then the oil is changed), the piston rings will already be seated.

I drove my 7R across the whole rev range. No bouncing off the limiter, don't let the engine labour, always up to 100C oil temp for 1000km.

No dumping the clutch or super hard braking for the first 600km.

My mk6 gti had an apr stage 1 chip...huge difference especially with the torque at any rev range. The sound is much more of heavy rumble than that of the gti's. Almost seems lazy in the way it adds on the power until you look at your speedo, but seriously brutal after 4000rpm.

Straight from the dealer I'll be taking mine for a long drive in hilly terrain, using lots of on (and totally off) accelerator pedal between 2-4,000 rpm to help seat the rings properly. Very light usage of clutch and brakes for the first 500km or so to help them bed in thoroughly. No cruising at the same engine revs for more than 20-30 seconds (just flick up and down the gears a lot if in traffic or speed restrictions).

This seems to help with minimising oil consumption for me (admittedly with a small sample size of around 10 or so vehicles)
