So a DSG R works out at approx. $5k less than the S3.
I've been reading a lot about ppl who aren't happy with the non premium sound system option and Discovery Pro so are looking at upgrading. Which will almost all but erode the $5k saving for arguably a better sound system but non OEM and an inferior MMI system
I have been advised by the sales manager of a Melbourne dealership that after the initial launch shipment of DSG Golf R's have been sold, there will be no more stock until September.
As of 2pm on Tuesday 15 April 2014 I know where there are three UNSOLD Golf R's in Melbourne metro dealerships. All dealerships are saying that in general supply should not be an issue based on current projections from VW.
No I am not going to say where the cars are because one may be ours seeing as Audi will not commit to whether they will be bringing the 3 door S3 into Australia any time soon and there is a 8-12 month wait for an A45.
My sales consultant just advised me that during Golf R training yesterday in Sydney he was told that if launch control is used more than 3 times it voids your warranty.
Said it sounded like BS so now the dealership is checking with VW Australia tomorrow

So if you buy their demo car, you won't be getting warranty? As I'm sure most test drive, a launch control will be attempted at least once.

^ Launch controlled the S3 on demo: spectacular! Drove the R today didn't get to launch it but it was a pretty special drive, very impressive (price wise it's now got me rethinking my s3 preference). Re number of launches I've seen the figure of 200 bandied about before their are warranty issues. 3 would clearly be ridiculous...
