My VW dealer is parked next to my Subaru dealer. I hadn't seen one (a new WRX) in person until last week and was also curious.... All I can say is OH GOD - the rear quarter panel is awful! It doesn't show in photos, but in person it is atrocious. I took a look at a black and a silver car in poverty pack spec and didn't even venture inside to see the premium model, nor did I bother to look at the STI they had parked in the wash bay... I just left, quickly.

+1.. Subaru dealer just down the road. Can't imagine any GTI/R buyers cross shopping WRX/STI. Two different cars and markets. The new 'upmarket' interior just isn't.

Mean while most local Skoda dealer gave me the keys and said try not to wear out the front tyres too much.

I find VW dealers somewhere in between, with pretentiousness increasing logarithmically as you get closer to a CBD
Yes, will agree with you there, it just depends on the day when you turn up if the treat you nicely or not.

Only trouble is in Canberra we are very limited in terms of car dealership, a few Toyota, Holden and Fords, but not Audi (1) and VW (2).

I think I just worked out why the 7 R isn't working for me in white - it is the rims. The Euro model fitted with the Pretorias works a whole lot better:

            • At $1,800 a corner (albeit VW dealer prices) Pretorias will be the impossible dream (at least in the short term). However Oz Racing ultraleggas etc would look good. Another option is custom painting the Cadiz rims gloss black - someone posted a NZ Lapiz Blue with painted Cadiz, looked very nice (not dissimilar to the Mk6 talledegas (I have a local wheel repair/painting shop that does excellent work so something I may do)

              • yes the pretoria wheels are really nice but the cadiz look very cool when they are spinning.

So VW dealers are actually offering to get some in?

I have found them from a German place at 2,799 Euro - which is already over $1k per wheel before factoring in freight and duty/GST.

Pity, because these are a very sharp looking wheel.

I've seen the Cadiz painted in black and think that is a better look than the standard - and a lot cheaper than going for an after market set.

Better off just getting some oz/enkei wheels.
In fact, the Oz Ultralegara wheels look almost identical, can be optioned in 18" and weigh less.

                    • Indeed Dutch, my dealer had the Prets price written on the spec sheet unbidden lol

Pretty sure I will paint my Cadiz, can get it properly done for $150 per rim.

agree with team V Oz racing rims the better way to go vs big bucks Pretria import

Agreed - no need to convince me having run OZs on my last ride. I think the Pretoria looks better than the Ultraleggera, but the price, weight and size option still makes it the choice.. plus numerous finishes to pick from to suit whichever color people choose.

(Trust me - I've already been pasting OZs on to a CSG GTI to see how it'd look).

My mate sent me a pic of one on the road yesterday (Limestone Grey), I reaaaaaally like that colour. Not to mention the Cadiz 19's are actually looking really nice in person, the stock pics on all the ads and reviews make them look way too chrome and shiny for my tastes but as you can see, they're more of a brushed/gunmetal grey.
The Cadiz wheel spokes are definitely shiny polished aluminium with contrasting black painted grooves and rims, as per the below:

After initially disliking them with a strong preference to the Pretorias, they are beginning to grow on me. I'm resigned to the fact that I don't want to spend a small fortune on changing them to Pretorias. No doubt there will be some who will upgrade to after-market ones, but this always happens for any brand, regardless of what comes standard. Enthusiasts want to differentiate their toys from that of others.

Plus for $1500 a wheel there are many forged 19" options out there.

Dunno if the VW option is forged.. if just normal cast thats a lot of money!
