  • So, I've searched heaps on carsales, I'm looking for a clean MK6 GTI with xenons even a clean adidas, edition 35, must all be under 45KM.

Or a Mk6 R under 45kms, Mk7 GTI with or without xenons.. If you have for sale and its not listed on carsales, PM me, I am a serious buyer with cash ready.

    • Well this one is going for $20k, is just down the road and has 40k less on the odo: 2009 Volkswagen Golf GTI VI Auto MY10

Given that your sisters car has relatively high km I'd say that you'd have to be prepared to sell it for $18-19k.

      • Sold mine recently. Not likely will you get over 25. Realistically high 19s / low 20s.

Wow, that car looks unloved. Judging by the hopelessly blurry photos it's very dirty, and who leaves the fuel consumption sticker on the windscreen for 6 years? And is that the driver's window frame apparently lifting away from the door?

            • My Brother's looking at selling his manual Golf VI 118TSi (77000km) for a Golf7 Highline we found on carsales. Seems like a good buy at 23k with only 20000km on it. At best it looks like he may get 10k (dealer couldn't guarantee it) for the 118TSi with a change over figure of 13k. Is that a normal price the dealers would give for a VI ? Apparently they recentely sold a VI with 30k's auto for 15k so my brothers VI would at best be sold for 12k so 10k trade in maybe expecting too much.

              • So i'm looking for an R......and making it hard for myself in seeking one with many options boxes ticked. I'm amazed how many people selling them on Carsales think they have the Dynaudio option installed but don't. Really annoying.....

What's the consensus on cars that have been babied or only covered particularly low distances? Instant reaction is "Awesome.....it's barely been used". This isn't always a good thing though, some engines NEED their legs stretched.

                Thoughts?

these engines do need to be driven hard every now and then. otherwise carbon build up could become an issue...

Makes sense with modern performance oriented engines. Car (MY13) has 31,000kms on it but hasn't been babied 100% of the time. Smooth as butter with a smoother DSG......picking it up next week

Why would you want a stock R? Do you love lag?

Agreed - they are slow, laggy and boring stock. I think i waited a grand total of about 1 month before i tuned mine.

                            • Thinking of purchasing a mk6 gti

                              Hey guys,

Currently own mk4 golf, and need to upgrade the car as I'm having some pretty crap electrical gremlins happening atm (long story).
Anyway looking at purchasing a mk6 gti with dsg as they're within my budget. Was wondering if there's anything I should be looking out for as red flags when purchasing a used mk6 any tips or heads up would be great, thanks!

                              • Hi Mate,

Picked up a GTI myself recently really love it. When i was looking it was really important that the car had full service history. GTIs are pretty fussy on their fluids and can burn oil so pretty important it was well maintained. Any cars with jerky or hesitant gear changes should also be avoided.
