Test drove, still not a huge fan.

    Sorry.

    • I'll have to make sure that my bro-in-law test drives the DSG before they are convinced about a manual but think that's unlikely as he only learned how to drive manual at the start of the year... He's fallen in love haha

        Never. Going. Back.
I guess it is like good wines, it is an acquired taste.. but I agree.. hard to go back to a standard box

        • 26 years of ONLY manual cars. The R was always going to be a manual - that was until i drove the DSG.
I only had 10 minutes with it (test drive) but thought it the way to go so ordered a DSG. 9 Months waiting and still unsure if I made the right decision.
Well I have done 4000km now and love it. Its a great box for round town and its also a great box when punting it around corners.
Its actually quite an amazing box and I am very happy I ticked the option.
I still have my WRX and although fun to drive I'll take the DSG anyday (except a race track)

          • Lets not turn this into a DSG vs Manual thread... there are already plenty of those. This is the Golf GTI Edition 35 thread.

Lets just conclude the DSG vs Manual discussion with both langers_sydney (pro DSG) and Ideo (pro Manual) are correct. As long as you have test driven both, whichever option you then select is the correct informed decision for you. i.e. Test drive the DSG so that you're making your own informed decision.
