After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Suggestions on some good brake pads for Mk 6 GTi?
Needing to get some front pads, and rather than replacing them with OEM, was always the idea to upgrade them to something better once worn.
I drive reasonable hard and am looking to get the car on the track 1-3 times by the year end, time permitting.Though it is a car I drive day to day for work and pleasure.
Considering the above, what suggestions do most of you recommend?Enough Said!

I use Ferodo 2500's.They've done 33000k,with a fair bit of Track use.
Work well from cold,and very good with some heat in them.
Take the opportunity to replace your brake fluid to a high temp type like AP, Motul,Elf or any of the reputable brands at the same time.Well worth it.

The Remsa's that GSL Rallysport sell are excellent. Ive got a set in my Golf R and my friend has a set in his Mk5 GTI. Work brilliantly, much much less dust than the OEM pads and they are only around $200-220 for the complete set.Last edited by Lucas_R; 01-06-2011, 04:32 PM.

How do the pads feel WRT grabbyness, touchyness or however someone might describe the excessively light (IMO + wife too) pedal pressure reqd for reasonably strong brake response...higher or lower pedal pressure for the same degree of retardation (of the car)?
How would you describe their characteristic for the first application of a day, stone cold?
I'm keen to reduce the pedal sensitivity on our Tiguan without some of the cold temp issues of some pads.
I use to run Metal Kings in one of my rally cars for a while and on a cold morning you could swear the discs were oiled for the first few stops...didn't matter how hard the pedal was pushed. There wasn't anything grabby about those suckers...they did last well and didn't disappear with abuse though...

I have been running these pads for a couple of weeks now. I didn't notice any difference in pedal feel or performance from the stock pads (normal day to day driving). They grip well for the 1st application of the day. No squealy brakes. Less dust. Cleaner wheels.

Sorry for the late reply - this thread was merged and moved and i lost track of it. Just found it again.
The stock pads were very grabby/bitey and i didnt like this. They felt very sensitive. The Remsa pads reduced this to a more normal level and i am happy with them in this respect.
The pads are perfect from the very first application in the morning (no difference to stock pads in this respect). No squeals or noises etc and they brake perfectly when cold or warm.
Cant recommend these Remsa pads highly enough (and im very fussy).

Gen4 liberty had warping issues - quite a few of the guys on C&I had disc skims & subsequent replacement quite a distance into the warranty period.
Wife has had several sets replaced on her company Holdens & Fords over the years.

Just pads. The car only had 400km on it when i changed them so there was no way i was upgrading the disks. Refer back a few pages for price and pad type.
