Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Tell them what outcomes you want and they will recommend something. I finished up with Wagner for the back of the Skoda (perfect for my usage) and just got Bremtec Trade Series for the front of the Honda. I even asked about a Bremtec ceramic pad and he steered me back to the tradeseries. They were cheap as chips $59 delivered and included new springs and some lube

The rear Wagner pads with DBA rotors were $180 delivered.

    Why aren't you getting rotors?
What makes you say they wouldn't be ideal? For reference, the car spends most of its life in traffic and doing a run to Canberra and back maybe once a month.

I'm doing rotors as well. DBA4000 front and back.

Just for reference, i had the Remsa pads in my Mk6 R from when the car was brand new (i changed them in the 1st week of ownership) and they were still in there when i sold the car nearly 4 years later with 28,000km on them. They were street driven only and performed perfectly while giving off less dust than the original pads.

my assumption is that an R would get driven a fraction harder than most shopping trolleys.

        • For those playing along at home, I had my VIN checked by VW and the model code for the front is 9U1 and 1KZ for the rear. So that's parts 1030.01 and 1031.00 for the front and rear respectively.
