Lesson learned. I was going to buy the OSIR ones before I stumbled across these on eBay. I didn't realise there could be such quality issues with carbon fibre parts. Guess it goes for all CF parts.

Might just go Brendan_A path and get them painted black!!

i think the quality issues for the jc sportline ones stemmed from the fact that they werent actually cf but rather a cf sheet over a plastic shell. the osir is actual cf weave for the whole shell, not just a layer

Yes, that black bit shouldn't be visible and should be rock solid. It's like a lose tooth in they atm

PS, will you get it covered under warranty... if not, what's parts and labour run to?

Not sure how long it had been like that, found a spare one from a salvaged car via a friend for $50 and everything feels way better now.

Ok, so do you feel it was the extra power from the APR, or are you leaning towards perhaps it was pre existing? I've not heard of engine mounts letting go like that... do you think maybe it was a faulty one?

I'm sure the torque didn't help the problem if it was pre-existing. Someone told me the GTI (with similar kW) has 3 bolts in the mount for extra strength but then the diesel (with similar torque) only has 2 like me so who knows. Maybe one of those 'wheel hop' bangs I heard once ages ago was actually the engine mount... will never know. DSG jerkiness also would've aggravated the problem as well. Car is as smooth as a normal auto now 95% of the time so I'm happy. Can actually feel the specific pendulum mount movements now so going to try and get a TAI fitted tomorrow.

Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to consider before putting 18" wheels on my car? Speedo changes? Will the 118 TSI - with Sports pack - handle the extra size. What ride changes might I notice.
