Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • A question you may be able to answer

is it possible to have my iPhone stream music via the bluetooth in my stock-standard 2009 118TSI comfortline?
I have paired my phone to my car (years ago) but haven't got the technical nouse to stream music, or indeed to sort out if its possilbe.

    cheers

    • Depends which model bluetooth you have. 9W2 can, 9W3 can't, 9W7 can, 9WZ can. Odds are from 2009 you'd have the 9W2 or 3 one. Check under your seat for the bluetooth module and see if you can find the model number.

      • Just an update.. after kicking up a bit of a stink, i managed to get a full refund from the ebay seller. Then I did the right thing and ordered the OSIR ones (via Rennenhaus - Ian - top guy). Install and look much better. The CF quality on the OSIR is impeccable.

          • The accessory itself is the only thing that might not be covered, but common sense says if you break something while installing then the dealer wouldn't be too generous in helping. Not that anyone here has ever done that.

            • A few weeks ago I jumped on board and bought the r20 headlights from Louie's contact. Louie sorted everything and even helped with the installation. It took no longer than 2 hours. He was really informative and what he said about the lights were true. They look incredible and very OEM. He is very good to deal with.

They are a great upgrade from stock halogens. Don't expect hid levels of light but they won't cost you and arm and a leg. I use them in my mkV also had them in my A3.
If you are after a higher colour temp 'xenon look' then the extreme blue are whiter.

Yes, they're great bulbs. Used them in my Mazda3 SP23 for years.

I can also vouch for the Osram Night Breaker Plus bulbs.
