The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Talking of tips. I hate my chrome ones. Already stained and hard to clean. Thinking of stainless steel and keen to hear where to get a good quality set....

    • My chrome tips are hard to get completely clean too. I think the two years of neglect before I got it had a part now no matter how hard I rub there's still 20% or so that won't return to a chrome finish.
Will stainless steel look as bright?

Not as shiny bling. But not layered by chrome that tarnishes, so think it will stand the test of time better.

        • Thanks. I can find some similar items on eBay but would appreciate if you have a link to a seller you've used.

          • Not used yet. But Magnaflow has been popular with fellow dubbers. They make the Perrin exhaust range.
            I'm checking shipping on this pair;

              • First mods to Mk6 77TSI DSG

                Hey all,

So I pick my 2011 Golf 77TSI up on Saturday, 5th of October, and I am looking at purchasing a few little mods to make the car a bit of fun as it is my first car.

First off - Blow off valve
Yes I understand that it's only a 77kw DSG, but for a bit of a laugh with friends I want to install a BOV, however, I need opinions on what ones are the best, and what ones not to look at. So far the Turbosmart Kompact Series Dual Port BOV is looking good as it's not overly loud, but still has a nice sound, IMO.
Also, what size do I need to go for? There's very limited information on this on the interwebs and so far one person has guessed 25mm.

                Secondly - Coilovers
What brands are the best for lowering with decent ride quality, I don't want to break my back whilst driving, but I want to have the clean low look where my tyre is slightly covered by guard

                Thirdly, Wheels and Tires
What wheels in your opinion look best on the Mk6?
I'm torn between the 2014 GTI wheels and BBS LM reps.
Whilst I want to go real wheels, BBS' will always look amazing on any car they are on.
What tyres will ride best, don't want to compromise handling for the sake of looking good.

Sorry for all the questions, but as a newcomer to the forum, I figured this would be the best place to start.

                Thanks in advance

                - Ryan

                • Is BOV illegal? I thot I saw one of those cop shows where they pulled two kids over a BOV in their ute.

                  • I got some Kumhos Ku39 on my polo gti. They seem to be a decent compromise between grip, ride and price.

                    • On your P Plates (well, in Vic) any engine modification is illegal, so yes, but for a cop to get me for it I would have to be looking for trouble because they're only super noticeable when you're planting it. I saw that episode too, falcodore owners these days

Thanks for your reply Pologti18t, will look into them, what size tires are you running?

                            • Proper/OEM seat handle inserts for Mk5 and Mk6 GTI

Not sure if this is of much interest, but up until now, all of the GTI seat handle inserts were semi-tacky/cheap looking aftermarket things like this:

I never understood why the GTI, being so popular and all, never had a proper seat insert available? The Golf R and 35th edition have proper seat inserts, but not the normal GTI. So the other night i found these, which look a lot better. I have ordered a set for our GTI so i will report back on quality/fitment etc.

                              • The same seller also does ones for the R:

I have the alu cutout style which I personally still like better:

This one also comes in various coloured carbon fibre finishes (obviously fake cf but who cares)
