tried to order one pre-emptively from ECS but got an email back shortly afterwards saying that the product is 'no longer available from their vendor'

This may be a stupid question, but why would some cars develop the noise and not others? The reason I ask is, I'm not sure if I've got it or not. VW Barloworld in Bayside are a joke. I've been waiting over 4 months for a clip from those guys, and the service manager just extends the due date of the part every time I email him.Comment

just heading home from Barloworld.
As i was about to take the mechanic for a test drive, i was explaining the issue.
He knew right away what i was on about, and said theyve the part on order, with about a two week lead time

After a long wait, here's a follow up to my post above.
The issue totally fell off my radar for the last few weeks. The noise still persists, and every time i went for a drive I said to myself "I really should call up VW to chase it up", and then either forgot about it, or when I did remember it was too late in the day to call them.
Well, while nursing my hangover after yesterdays festivities, I actually remembered to give them a call today, and was told that the part had arrived yesterday! However the earliest booking I can get is either 24th Nov (no loan car) or 9th Dec with a loan car.
So, it looks like this issue will hopefully be fixed in the next few weeks
Maybe me forgetting to call them, and therefore not hounding them, has worked out in the end
