Picked up my new GTI today. Driving home I could hear the rattle as well. Going to give the VW dealer a call first thing in the morning.

13,600 km's for me. Had the rattle since 2,500 km's but it has gotten much louder now. Anyone want to group buy the clip from ECS and save on the postage. I ain't driving around rattling tin can for another 2 months.

thats why I just bought mine from ECS myself long ago and had VW fit it, still rattle free!

just check with your dealer first as initially mine refused to install the clip purely because 'they' did not order it..

After a very long trip on the weekend just hit 6K! LOL.

Since getting the car I have only ever put shell 98 octane. On the way home from this trip i had no choice but to use Caltex 95. I know this is going to sound weird, but my car feels so much faster. I'm baffled as to why. Could it be the engine running in after a long trip on the hwy? Does the ECU prefer Caltex 95? Weird.

Nice! And yeah thats interesting, I've been told by a few people that Caltex is good, I myself have only put BP Ultimate or Shell Vortex since purchase.. On Saturday a full tank set me back $80+ and they say this price hike is likely to get higher before it gets lower.

Yup. I'll drive more a couple of weeks and when I'm free I swing by the service centre. As long as it doesn't affect the engine or safety then it's not a big deal to me. I know this will be fixed either sooner or later.

I find that I get more mileage from Caltex (Vortex 95) and Shell (V power 9 than when I use BP Ultimate.

+1 - I get more milage on Vpower than Ultimate too. But haven't put in Ultimate in a while to be honest.

Hi all,

I have recently purchased an MY12 GTI from Norris Motor Group at Kedron in QLD. Up until 3 days ago the car has not exhibited any of the noises mentioned. The car has travelled 1440km's and is now exhibiting a sound between 1800-2500rpm that sounds like rice being shaken in a can. I have booked the car in for Monday 8am to have the dealership review.

Boriskv - that is the waste gate rattle that everyone is talking about. You need the clip too! If they ever get here!
