Can you guys please link to your source when you state these things. Or if it's been personally told to you, who and when and what for etc. As per my post, where the prices came from the Eurospeed site, there is more than a single price, depending on your model and what you want done...
I'm booked in to do my APR Stage 1 this Saturday @ 9:30am - Volkspower. Hopefully the tune will be as awesome as described by you guys Only 3 more sleeps to go.

Good point.
For GIAC the $1045 quote came from Arthur @ Exoticars in Parramatta.
Spoke to a GIAC retailer in Victoria today, nice guy, but didn't feel me with confidence that he knew much about Golf R's.
Then went to Dean at Volkspower, he spent 30 minutes talking to me about the ins and outs of every Golf R mod you could wish for and gave me info based on dozens of Stage 1 tunes he has already installed.
For $ 1270 till end of May , I am happy to spend the $ 250 extra for an APR tune.

Exactly why I'm heading there thus Sat for my tune! You coming?! They're closed next Sat.
The Australian distributor for GIAC is Eurospeed
You'll have to call them to get the price, because they're not terribly good at updating their site. Not even a "Golf MK6" category yet! The MKV tunes give a general indication of between $995 and $1095 - but that's just an assumption based on MKV!
The GIAC Extreme Tune is roughly equivalent to the APR "Stage II+", but it has more stringent requirements. Based on the MKV GTI Pirelli it costs $1295. Since GIAC doesn't make any hardware themselves you have to obtain it from other brands. You MUST have (quoting GIAC):
- HOR HPFP (high pressure fuel pump)
- VF large bore K04 Custom intake, other aftermarket intakes WILL NOT WORK.
- TBE - turbo back exhaust, w/ a high flow cat.
- Good inter-cooling
You'd want to check with them who's intercoolers and TBE they recommend, though I'm sure there is flexibility there, as with the HPFP. You can definitely use APR's TBE, HPFP and FMIC if you'd like to stick with one vendor for example. However, there is not flexibility with the intake, you must use the VF Design K04 intake.
Hope that helps.
the intake restriction sucks because I would have loved to have used a TWINtake or something. But You have to love the flexibility in the other parts. THis is the route Im going with as I have a GIAC STAGE 1 on my R with a sprintbooster and im loving it
Whilst the Forge TWINtake looks pretty, I'm sure that the VF Design intake has awesome performance. One of the main issues is the size of the pipe going back to the MAF sensor, and its position etc. It's a full 3" pipe. Most other intakes have smaller MAF pipes.
