Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Awesome times dude. That APR tune, seems like the way to go and has left those who have used it happy, which is great.

A 4.78, minus one person from cockpit would equate a 4.6..something, so yep, solid time.

Now If guy can come up with the disable electronic aids mod, that would be awesome.

Just one question, what is the DIFF mod from the Motor test?

That'd probably be ok. Can't hurt to try, not like it takes much effort to put back to normal if annoying.

Yeah, if someone comes up with a way of making sure that ESC off button actually means fully off then we're in business!

I have presumed that it's the Haldex AWD controller. The price matches what's in the table for the diff in the magazine...

Just do it, you won't regret it. Plenty of RND for the MK6 too.

I'm only running 18's but the placard is on the fuel filler flap, its 39-43psi depending on load (once you've conveted it from metric).

              • Just an update on my R stalking. Saw a United grey R with 18s that was clean as a mo fo and it looked awesome! Also saw a White 3 door at spit junction last week at the lights also looked amazing. I don't know if it's making the wait better or worse.

Does anyone have or can take a pic of the 19 in Talladega's in silver on the Golf R, i know they look just look 18s only 1 inch bigger but am keen to see what they look like, the only confirmed pics ive managed to find have been in the black.

If anyone has them on their R feel free to chime in and let me know what the ride is like etc

                    Cheers!

                      • Yeah - plus all the original marketting photos.
                        AUSmotive.com (the one in blue).
Note that in the original marketting photos (in blue in the link above), although the car has 19" Silver Talladegas, the headlight surrounds are in fact silver. However, on any production model, if the headlight surround is black, then it came with 19" wheels.

So for example, the Golf R on display at the Franfurt Auto Show has 19 silvers.

There are also various shots in this thread...

                            • Cheers guys, just wasn't sure if they were 100% 19s.

Took an R for a test drive yesterday and today and WONT be getting 19s, the ride is kinda firm (almost too firm) as it is. I'm sure 19s would just make it even harsher.

                              • Tire pressure makes more of a difference IMO, but depends what the roads are like where you drive.

I'd get the 19" to get the black headlight surrounds (as most people prefer them) and if it is to bumpy just get aftermarket 18" wheels. You'll get good money for stock 19" R wheels too.
