Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have had it serviced at VW but not the one the dealer recommends but one that is closer and with different platesGolf R | UG | DSG | 19" Silver | ACC | Leather | Viezu vRace | FIS+ Advanced | View car diary thread

No you maintain your Manufacturers 3 year / unlimited klms warranty but you lose the Dealership complimentary extended warranty. This is there to keep you spending money with their associated service centresCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

This is all a bit strange and in a sense anti competitive however it could all just be in the wording. I guess if its only the extended non VW warranty the you specifically signed up too then maybe they can actually do this. Normally any suggestion of things like removing/voiding warranty could result in a big slap on the wrist for the dealer that suggested it. As long as the workshop uses the correct parts where required and the service procedure followed everything is fine, its been this way for an awfully long time now.

Most are modded these days and they're pretty damn quick and to a point before you ditch turbos cams and internals they're cheap to set up too. I wouldn't want to be in one in an accident though not good at all. You'll always have it on the gear changes and make up for some of the power deficiency there.
I keep missing out on any runs with anything half decent, I just don't drive the car enough it would seem.

I was the same, but my feeling is that it is where you drive.. I was coming back through Mt Druitt and Blackett.. you will find the opportunity there very easilyCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

G'day Chris, thanks for the welcome mate
No longer have my 6. Traded it for a WRX about 12 months ago. I like the power of the WRX, however I have just had the opportunity to step up to a Golf R for an attractive price, so put down a deposit last week. It will be a Week 36 (mid September) production, so MY13 but 2012 build. Was hard to get a firm answer from a dealer re: whether Oz will get any 2013 built cars, so settled for a 2012.
I considered waiting for MK VII R, but word is 2014 release at the earliest, and I don't want to wait that long. Im an impatient bugger.
Very much looking forward to the R

Only advice I can give you is I am very happy with my R after almost 2 years and don't regret the move from the MPS. Though if a MK VII R is not too far away then maybe this would be tempting enough to wait?? Dilemnas, all the best mate.

Saw a Golf R on CarSales (Melbourne) for $36k (76,000kms). I'd be a lot more tempted if it wasn't a boring grey colour.
There's also a nicer black one with RNS510 for $42k with unsightly roof racks (can they be taken off?).

Proper supercars would struggle to stay with it in a straight line.
