Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Might just be fuel going 'stale' and losing some of its potency (if that's possible).SF must be driving too eco.
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

        • meh.. could be just me.. I just found it to be a little laggy at the low end.. I refill and it isn't there anymore..

Could be the tune.. such a high quality finely developed product potentially senses the availability of high octane fuel Guess those cheap nasty internet tunes don't care

Firstly I recieved a letter today from VW today explaining they had deregistered my Warranty protection because they have no record of my numberplate ( which I have changed for Euro plates ) having been serviced in the required time as per the warranty compliance. I have had it serviced at VW but not the one the dealer recommends but one that is closer and with different plates.. anyone else had this issue.. I am off to the dealer tomorrow with said service manual and letter to understand what exactly they have done

Secondly I may be off my rocker but more often than not I get the sense once you petrol level drops into the red the car performance is affected.. I find I fill up again and a return to normal progamming occurs. It is nothing dramatic but I just sense it goes into an econo mode

            Anyone else feel this..?
As to point 1, my car car has never seen the inside of a dealer so it looks like I might receive a similar letter soon since the car is now over 12 months old (but is fully serviced by an independent, to a higher std IMO). I think i will probably file it away and hope I never have a warranty issue and if I do sort it out then.

            • Got to the bottom of that today, apparently I have a complimentary extended warranty provided through the dealship ( limited of course). As I went to another VW service centre and I didn't service within the appropriate time they have informed me that the extended Stealership warranty has been cancelled.. I figured that when I rang around that everyone else was $100 cheaper in servicing costs you were paying for the warranty anyway.. meh I have the 3 year factory warranty so only 2 years to go on that and then off to an independant

You should be allowed to be late 1month/1000km over for your 15,000km and 2 months/2000km over for your 30,000km service. Unless, they've changed the rules.

Testing showed the factory power output to be closer to 243kw.

                            • Yes, most of the real world times on stock R33s Ive seen (one first hand) they run sub 5 seconds and often mid 4's for 0-100 kph

Im an old fella so any thing in that area is fast for me
