I think the the sprintbooster is a bit redundant if your tuning the car though, all or at least most of the crapness is removed in the process

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well I haven't bothered with the pedal and throttle plate position directly but we do bring in boost a fair bit earlier than most more torque etc, so it reduces the effect dramatically. I can see that the sprintbooster would effectively mask the issue on an otherwise stock setup as it moves the pedal position away from where the delay is experienced

I know the DSG gearbox preselects the next gear when upshifting but how does it work downshifting? does it use the current clutch to downshift back?My12 Golf R -DSG, sunroof, vienna leather interior

thanks bluefrog but doesnt answer my question let me try and explain. So if the DSG is in 3rd and required to shift down does the current engaged clutch/gear shift down of does the preselected 4th gear change down to 2nd?My12 Golf R -DSG, sunroof, vienna leather interior

one clutch does 1st, 3rd and 5th, while the other handles 2nd, 4th and 6th .. so my understanding is that if the dsg is in 3rd, then I'm guessing it would pre-select a gear once it figures out whether you're likely to go up or down.
the even-geared clutch is either going to be told by the dsg to pre-select 2nd or 4th, depending on whether you're slowing down or speeding up ... and if you suddenly reverse from say slowing down to speeding up, then it should change that pre-selection (since it's got until the last few tenths(?) of a second or so to choose).
.. or something like that .... maybe, hehe- 2006 Audi B7 RS4 sedan, black, APR supercharged

VW GTI 5th GEAR REVIEW - YouTube
Doesn't really matter if if the car thinks you were going to shift up but then want to change down when you see how quickly it changes
Also there's a techie video here:

Haha - you beat me to it Andrew. I was going to say that my car only has 1 clutch and its used for all gears - regardless of whether they are odd or even gears.

I borrowed a friend's R32 last night and was told to have a go at it. I normally am quite ginger when it's not my own car. So I never tried pushing it as much when i drove a friend's R last time. But with explicit permission granted...
Man I really miss having 4WD. It may under steer at the limits but it's just so sure footed for most of the time.
The R32 doesn't feel like its underpowered when you are on the highway and want to speed up. But i notice from traffic lights, it does seem to hesitate a bit. Guess that's NA for you. Then again, the exhaust note from the V6 sounds creamy.
This R32 came with the Recaro Sportster seats. I loved it. Grippy without becoming uncomfortable. But getting out is still a bit of a chore.
