Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Best AC I've had in a vehicle

    • Fine for me as well. I often find my right hand starting to freeze after a while so redirect the driver vent a bit higher or turn the temp up.

I'm surprised at how quickly the cabin heats up if I ever turn AC off near the end of a trip, within seconds I want to turn it back on.

Just a question, have you checked that each vent is actually open.?

Yes. I do find that it cools down very quickly don't get me wrong. The ac in the car is brilliant. Especially the right hand thing, gets cold quick.

Yes the car heats up very quick too after turning it off.

It's the fan I have the problem with. My old Jap car used to create a tornado in the car! Would blow my hair away when on full. The R does not.

            AC great! Fan not so.

            • Not sure where you're from originally but tornadoes are generally a bad thing...

Gold Ryan. I'll pay that one. The AC is very effective, just wished the fan would blow harder.

Depends on the setting of the re-circ button. If it is in A the outside vent will open allowing hot air to be pushed out initially. After a while the vent will close into re-circ mode giving higher air flow within the cabin. You can control fresh air or re-circ or Auto with the same button.

                      • My AC is very noisy. There is almost always a constant hissing noise when the AC is turned on. The hissing is noticable even when driving up to 60-70km/h. It disappears as soon as you turn the AC off (with the fan still running).

And the gradation between different temperature settings feels non-existent. 25 degrees feels just as cold as 18 degrees. I normally set the AC to a higher temperature (24-25 degrees) but it's still freezing.

                        Anyone else experiencing this?

                          • I remember back in the day when it was seen as amazing to have a 3 speed fan. Now we are complaining about how little difference there is in the temp we can set in one section of the car.

I don't remember much these days.

                              No idea what happened yesterday.

Maybe it's the cold air from the AC

If it's a loud hiss then maybe a vacuum line has come off an actuator or one of the flaps isn't closing properly - hence no discernable difference in AC temp.
