  • just been to VW dealership(Adelaide) today, i saw the R came off the tow truck
That's nice one. Silver with black wheels, leather(not recarco), sunroof...
excatly the same colour combination as my old TT roadster..... lol
love to see it with black wheels.

my heart more to the R rather than a GTI now...lol

APR chip it to 239kw.... awesome.... half price of the TTS, and more practical

      • TTS actually has 200kW for Aus spec. Why that is the case and the S3/Golf R have to be detuned to 188kW is anyone's guess.

Very fair and in all honesty is very likely to be my next car.

3dr manual with the Dynaudio stereo will do me nicely.

I'd say it's priced very well, though with the options I'm wanting and LCT it'll be around $70K drive away! However was looking at the R36 with similar options and that was over $80K so the R is well priced IMO and adding some APR magic will make it one very sweet ride
Something like this would be nice...

Maybe its so that the Golf R won't be faster than the S3... or to justify that huge premium for an extra 12kW?

              • The S3 is 188kW/330Nm as well for Australian delivered cars. It's only the TTS that doesn't get detuned. Euro spec for the S3 is 195kW too btw, so the Golf R, on paper, has more power anyway.

                • Just sat in the Golf R at bill buckle, want!

Anyway, for anyone interested, they have a blue and a white, both with leather.

If you're going to get leather I'd be tempted to get the recaros as they work out to be only 1k each, and you get rear leather seats for $5300.

What im concerning if Recarco brings good reselling... like after 3-4 years, would it be much people look for a used Golf with higher price and with Recarco? Most people here on the forum are VW person who understand what we are paying for a Golf worth the money.

I think of this because i believe i cant stay with 1 car forever. i have to put the reselling very serious lol
but i do like the look of the recarco. and i dont think any SA dealer with brings recarco in demo. i cant feel it in person b4 buying... sad

as long as they are the same or similiar setup... APR chip will be next... I dont really mind if they selling this price for minus 12kw. in marketing, if they do 200kw, how much u think the effect to the market and pricing. the price lower than the old R32, i d put the APR remap in no time...if i eventually got the car... haha

                        under $2000 ...directly to 239kw... y not.

If you want to buy a VW in Brisbane, I'd suggest looking elsewhere .....
it seems the same bug has bitten a dealership out on the southside as well. i know someone who had a $1000 deposit down - one of the first. over the last 4 weeks he's received no call or contact, not even for today's release. he's had to chase them up all the time.

you would think it wouldn't hurt for them to call last week and say "you should drop in and have a test drive of the R on saturday". NOPE!

all went downhill imo when the sales manager and top sales guy left a while back. they looked after me and my family (5 cars all up).

so putting a deposit down is a pointless exercise in my book to get first in line. just get behind everyone else! out of principle and seeing as it had no weight anyway, the deposit was pulled today and sale now going to a salesperson and dealer that deserves it!

pm me for referral in SE qld area.

                          • Well after no contact since Feb 2009, except for a phone call 2 weeks ago to tell me I'm not getting the car of my choice, I went down today and cancelled my order and asked for my deposit back.

The initial allocation (apperently all built Sep09) will be followed by a delivery of some more cars in Oct/Nov (already ordered). So for anybody who want a car with specific extras, hope for a January delivery at the earliest ...... 6 month wait

After 18 months of waiting (and I was the 1st to order in Australia) I'm really tired of waiting and will be buying a different brand next .....

The R in my specs would have been $73k driveaway, which is what I'd rather now be spending somewhere else. As nice as the R is (and I spent an hour crawling all over it) its not worth that for what is essentially a Golf with some bling added .....

Unless the Bluesport concept gets here quickly, our last VW will be a Multivan ..... even the thought we had of buying the kids a Polo each for uni has soured .....

                            • It's a shame mate but hardly surprising. It seems that since VW is now the European flavour of the month and the cars are in demand and sold with massive wait tiimes, the dealers have decided that they don't have to work for sales or give anything even remotely close to customer service. Absolutely pathetic the way VW dealers are behaving. Sharkie see your PM.

                              • Also called into my dealer today and got him to price up my desired spec. Comes to $70k OTR, with no discount at all and no sign of the Corp discount being applied for 3 months or more. On top of that, the wait for a factory order is likely to be at least 6 months, possibly even up to 8 months like the GTI's are at present, as the build spots on the assembly line are being allocated to pre-orders anyway. So if i wait for corp discount (~6%) and then order, it could be close to a year before i get a car!

Haven't driven it yet but it does look good in rising blue and 19" rims, but i'm mentally struggling with spending $65k-$70k on a Golf, and still have to wait another 6+ months for it.

Might have to keep shopping and see what else grabs my fancy.
