Hey Dave, any idea on the driveaway price on yours yet? Pretty nice spec.. good you got the ACC with 19", the feel is much more stiff than MK5.

You will probably be one of the first in the country to own one.

Guy will probably be the first, will check it out when he's got it (got the GTI quite early before everyone else).

Pricing is good for the new Golf R, unless you have a MKV R32 to trade in. Looks like R32 values just dropped 5-10K. Good that leather is no longer standard making the base price cheaper. Here's a link of some acceleration times set by the Golf R and other makes of Volkswagen:

Stop start acceleration is uncanny fast for the Golf R compared to the AutoCar times. In gear acceleration has the times much closer to each other.

Saw a CW 5 dr last night about 11:30 Northbound Warringah freeway. R took Falcon St, i was headed to LCT. Those taillights look awesome in the flesh. Unfortunately, my son wasn't quick enough with the camera in his i-phone, or this post would have a picture.

I have an r on order quoted build date 38 although dealer says it is more likely wk 32-34
wonder what time line is from build date to delivery in melbourne and what other unfortunates who missed first shipment are being quoted for delivery
my concern is that as I am eligible for the rudd rebate for companies providing delivery is pre dec 31 this year
my order went in late last year but my spec not available on initial shipment

In true Austral fashion, I've had minimal contact since I ordered my R IN FEBRUARY 2009, and will not be getting 1 anytime soon as they did not bother in securing a Silver 5 dr in the initial allocation ......

If you want to buy a VW in Brisbane, I'd suggest looking elsewhere .....

I think there is a massive TYPO on those figures. I think the golf R suppose to say 6.1 instead of 5.1!!! As VW's claimed 0-62 is only 5.7 (manual). They can use racing tyres and still won't get those figures.

I must say, the autocar review was done in slightly moist conditions... so both manual and dsg should get a few tenths more. but not a whole second.
