I ordered my Golf R on 9 August last year. It was built on 11 February and loaded on to the Torino on 1 March. The Torino is due in Port Kembla on 11 April. I had an almost 10 month wait for my current ride, a MKV GTI, so I'm used to playing the waiting game!

Looks like my GTI is spending time talking to your R as they are both on the Torino heading towards Dakar at the moment - although mine jumps ship in Melbourne. Good luck with your R - our wait is nearly over. Third GTI for me and all have been approx 5 month wait, although this is my second 5 month wait in the last year.

Finally got confirmation for pick up tomorrow morning for eagerly awaited Golf R.
Its been a long wait since end of Sep. Finally get a chance to test a manual R as they only had DSG for demo.

Ok guys,

After purchasing my GTI 3 weeks ago, I finally picked it up today, and may i just say it has been a fantastic experience in the 12 hrs I have had it! The car is far more responsive and powerful than I recall from the test drive. I'm quite happy that my Polo GTi was delayed to Sept 2011, as it led me to this car, which is by far a more superior vehicle! Very happy chap at the moment.

White 3dr man, Bluetooth, mdi, tint, rear rubber cargo mat, slimline weathershields $40660. Its on the boat now as it was stock for vw. 4 weeks before it lands so 6 or so weeks to delivery

picking up new TSI

Hi, well I was very lucky to be offered a car that a Sydney dealer could fit out to my specs and we are picking it up this Tuesday!!!!!

The car is a MY11 golf TSI 118DSG with metallic paint, reversing camera, bluetooth, sat nav, sports pack, MDI (with ipod cable), window tint (front 2 windows) and mats.

Aside from making sure all the options are included and checking for any damage etc, is there anything else you would suggest. I recall reading about needing to collect discs for the sat nav in another post? Is there anything else like this that I need to collect with the options that I have or generally with the car. As we're in Canberra, its not that easy to pop down and pick anything else up!

Grrr I hate dealers that aren't open on Sundays. In all fairness, my contact did say that he had a family engagement otherwise he would come in.

Flying down Tuesday 22nd and picking it up on Wednesday. The car is there. I just can't get down any earlier.

But then it would miss the point of the corporate discount.

It's not meant for someone who just works at a corporation. It's meant for someone who works at a corporation and is getting the car as part of an entitlement or salary sacrifice etc...

I work for 3 companies on the VW corporate discount list... yet I just negotiated regularly because I know that I would have asked someone to lie to sign the letter and I wasn't willing to do that. I'm surprised at how many people are willing to....

I got it because I'm a member of an association they 'associate' with - no salary sacrifice/entitlement etc. Just sent them my membership welcome letter

True, just pointing out that the corp discount is not just. For salary sacrificers etc.
I essentially got the discount just because I work at the company! (the membership was a company membership, not a personal one)

Received my R on saturday and had chance to drive 100KM around sydney. Absolutely loving it. Enjoying more power and torque compared to my previous integra. Still getting used to 6 speed manual, being guilty of revving the engine high. Noise level and comfort also no problem.
Had some problem with HSA initially, stalled car while trying to get used to new clutch and a hill, but now I love it, great for going up a steep ramp up in the shopping complexs.
Just a quick question, Does R have automatic side mirror turning in facility when it is switched off? (still searching the manual)

I believe it has tilt mirrors for parking but not auto fold in functionality.
