The R and the GTI are possibly the worst offenders for wait time, demand and option config seem to slow everything up. The TSI should be more readily available even if you start ringing all the dealers or ask them to look up what is in stock. The standard wait period is 3 - 5 months for a factory build

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

unfortunately the reality is that it is at least a 12 month wait for freshly ordered R's, or so we are being told by other dealers.
Anyway, i hope your guy has a Batphone through to Wolfsburg.
You'll love it when you get it.
Just back from a drive, and I can still hear that wonderful induction growl.

Cher, I was also told different wait times by the different dealers. It ranged from 4 to 8 months. I don't know who is right.MY15 Golf 7 R / Lapiz Blue

This is another of the 100's of examples on this forum of why too much information is bad for your health!
The only certainty you have in "just in time" production is that there is no certain date that your car will be built, until "just before", hence the "just in time" production. Oh - the other thing about "just in time" production, is that it's more efficient and keeps factories at a higher utilisation rate. So all this swapping and changing is for your benefit! It's just not good for your health
As for the Polo GTI wait times... this is so not the place for it, but seriously... what has the construction of factories in other countries got to do with VW Australia? The only way to have avoided this issue was to not offer the car for sale in Australia in the first place - and you know the reaction that would have had...

My dealer just called to tell me the car is no longer appearing on the system as in-transit which means it has landed in either Melbourne or Port Kembla (he is vague on the detail). Can someone tell me what car carriers have recently arrived in either port and when I could expect delivery of the car based on the fact the vehicle no longer appears in transit. Also can someone tell me if a car arriving now to port is an MY11 or MY11.5 build? It is possible a car built post week 45/2010 could already be arriving here in port.
I ask because he is telling me it is an MY11.5 but surely something built in mid-Nov 2010 wouldnt be here by now? I based my acceptance of the price/offer on it being an MY11.5 so will just need to suck it up if it isnt I suppose. Funny thing is when I was looking back in late October BarloWorld at Mascot told me this exact spec was coming into country in late Feb early March but even back then (being week 43/2010) it was showing as assigned to a dealer in Taree... could it be the same car and could a car that hadnt yet been built have already been assigned to a dealer and make it here in time?Golf 7R | 5 Door | Limestone Grey | DSG | Sunroof | Leather | Driver Assist | Tint | Formerly GTi11.5

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I wasn't going to look back through 186 pages of this thread. How are you guys finding out what week/day your build is? Is it through the dealer (ie: keep emailing/calling them)? Or is it via other means? I've been given an ETA arrival date (in the port I presume) of June 14 - but that's all the info I have.
My car: MY18 Arteon
My car #2: MY22 Volvo XC40 Pure Electric
Her car: MY22 Skoda Octavia Limited Edition Wagon
