The official I have ordered/received my new MKVI thread
Ideo,
Mate its the way to go.
after speaking to the sales guy today things are going to get much worse.
he intimated that Aus will be getting no production slots in the entire third quarter this year.
Out of a dozen Polo GTI orders at their dealership taken already, only four will get cars this year.
Guys, get em while you can.
Golf R MY 11.5 United Gray, 3 door, DSG, ACC, Free MDI, Bluetooth Mods - APR Downpipe, VW Racing AI, HPFP, APR Tune Stage 2+- lovin it! Touareg V8 TDI R-Line, White .Arrived 11 July.
I'm finding it hard to come up with suitable description of how I feel.
Picked up new car at midday.
Sat in it for 20 mins trying to work out all the buttons do.
then i thought Frack it, ill work it out later, drove down the road a bit and started to smile.
i am still smiling!!!!
Wow, so happy with my choice to grab something now.
Do I care that it doesnt have a sunroof?
frack no!
Boy it sounds so much better than i remembered from test drive.
I am using S a lot, so much more fun than D.
I don't care about the fuel atm,
Service manager said not to Baby it, drive it like I intend to right from the start, so am giving it plenty.
Gees it feels so good off the line, and DSG is very smooth, no sign of any hesitation in D mode yet. Touch wood.
I could go on for hours, I feel like a child again with a new toy.
I will try to post some pics over the weekend, I really like the colour, very understated and refined.
Didnt want to get out of it.
Waiting for wife to get home so I can take family out to dinner.
I think we'll take the R.
See you out on the road Gents (and Ladies).
Cant wait to attend some brisbane meets and meet more of the VW fraternity.
Gratz mate! Yep its an awesome feeling the first time you drive it I pretty much try and drive it nearly every day now lol, its too addictive. Having a certain number of lease k's to complete helps as well lol, Gee such a chore to notch up all those extra k's in the R...NOT!
Yeah I use a combo of S and D. Mainly S pulling away at lights or around town unless its really heavy traffic. the lag in D is a bit of a pain at times but once you get used to it its not so bad, it responds pretty well when u get used to the amount of throttle needed to give it a kick to keep up with the flow of traffic. I find its almost a fine art in D trying not to floor it too much sometimes and narrowly missing the back of the car you are following when the R comes on boost, but you will get used to it! My Mrs found that out the other day. She said 'hun when i took off the other day from the lights it felt a bit sluggish in D so I put the foot down and got a fright as I went flying past the car next to me. I swear I felt like a hoon!" As Webber said to Jeremy last time he was on Top Gear about how he was so quick esp through the corners in the reasonably priced car. "Its all about throttle control, mate!" hahaha

Today, I have signed on the dotted line for a fully optioned rising blue Golf R with black 19" except for the Recaros.
Unlike other members, I was told that the car would arrive in 4 month time from today. The sales person I dealt with today at barloworld VW in fivedock NSW was fantastic.
Although he couldn't guarantee the exact delivery date, he gave me a good deal and more importantly he said to me that it would take about 4 months to get the car which is not too bad at all. He even agreed to get me a loan car if he can't get the car for me within 4 months.
So overall, I was so happy that I just couldn't resist myself from ordering one.
One of 2 things is going to happen 1) he has one specced to the exact order coming in so you are in luck 2) get ready to be told that you wont be getting it in 4 months
Current Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist
Honestly, I also doubt that the car will arrive in 4 months because all other dealers I contacted told me 8 months or even longer.
Hopefully like Silvrfoxx said, he's got the exactly the same one coming in.
But whatever happens as long as I can get a loan car from the dealer, I will be happy to wait for another 4 months.
Unfortunately, I haven't got anything in writing for the loan car but will follow up on that one just in case.

Corsa,
I hope it all goes well for you.
unfortunately the reality is that it is at least a 12 month wait for freshly ordered R's, or so we are being told by other dealers.
Anyway, i hope your guy has a Batphone through to Wolfsburg.
You'll love it when you get it.
Just back from a drive, and I can still hear that wonderful induction growl.

Well Happy Days.. I started ringing around all the Sydney Dealers to see if anything was in stock or cancelled and I stumble onto my original Rep from Denlo over at Chatswood classic. Awkward conversation but I flagged I had no choice as I didn't know if my car was ever going to come up. He looked into the system and what do you know
1. Car is in Frozen state - can't be changed now
2. I have a build week of 11
3. Delivery date of the 20th of May
4. Expected hand over 2nd week of June
Now I could have done with that info much earlier...
Seems to be moving now

I know this is an ordering thread so hope its ok but as a few are starting to talk timing - is the wait time for the R the same as the TSI. I have been told different wait times by different dealers for a factory order- from 4 to 6 to 8 months? Just wondering if anyone has recent experience to share?
