Hey guys and girls.

I havent been online for a few months but the time has come to post a reply in this section...

So i set out to buy a mk6 around three months ago and my dealer was trying to get me a 3 door in Candy White. After heaps of searching we located one coming into the country around July, however it had been ordered by a dealer in Victoria. My dealer then contacted them and for a few weeks negotiated, pleaded and begged to trade some other GTis to get me the car i wanted and save me waiting six months for a factory order. The dealer in Vic was extremely unreasonable as they originally wanted my dealers White Knight EOS (rare apparently) which my dealer didn't want to part with initially. Then after more negotiations my dealer finally caved and agreed to swap the White Knight for the 3 door GTi but guess what... Vic didn't want the White Knight anymore... they changed their mind... they decided they wanted two GTi's now. Jessssssssssssssussss. So of course my dealer got on the case and started trading other cars with other separate dealers in an attempt to get two GTi's to give to Vic to get the one GTi in CW that i wanted. Anyway this went on for a few weeks. It didn't really bother me to much as i knew my dealer was busting balls to get me my car. Anyway some time went by and my dealer eventually got back to me with bad news which was after all that crap the dealer in Vic had sold it! F###########CK! How rude... they agreed on two swaps and went back on both! You can imagine how pissed off i was. So after a week went by i got over my disappointment and by this time i was like screw it... I'm just gonna fork out an extra $1500 and get the exact car but in a five door which my dealer had on order and was going to be available around the same time anyway. Great!... So i did. I agreed on the five door, got used to the idea, budgeted for the extra cash and i was happy and waiting...... finished..... not quite.... So after all this a few more weeks went by but you wouldn't believe what happened this afternoon. My dealer calls me up and says they've found me a 3 door in CW with the exact same specs as the original however this one has a sunroof. Now i wanted a sunroof at the start but i couldn't justify it for an extra $1900. Now my dealer knew this but after all the pissing around thats happened my dealer said they'd do it for an extra $900 to wrap up this saga of a deal haha. I thought this was a fair deal and considering everything i've been through AND it being the exact car i originally wanted BUT with a sunroof i locked in the deal quick smart. Now all that is great news but here is the best bit. Originally i was expecting the car in June however the car they've found is currently in Sydney right now and it should be on a truck for Brisbane tomorrow if not Friday! Woooooooohooooooooooooooo!

So going on whats happened today i think it warrants a post in the official 'waiting for my GTi thread'!

I'm so damn excited. I can't wait to take it out for a burn with my girlfriend and even better with the sunroof down! Haha. This is my first brand new car and it's so exciting to be buying such a great car.

God what is killing me is that my membership card for the corp discount wont be in till prob late next week and i can't get it till then!
God its even worse knowing the car is waiting for you but you cant get it cos of some paperwork!!!

That really sucks! I've noticed that since my car is only weeks away the wait is so much harder then when it was months away. And i can imagine how much worse it would be considering its there ready to go with only paper work in the way.

Agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed although there is so much more work needed to maintain them. I was strongly considering black one but i was too worried about spider web scratches.

Apart from that... well maintained black cars = win

It WAS a 2009 build !
I say "was" because I got a phone call an hour before pick-up to inform me that somewhere between storage and showroom the car had been involved in an accident ! I sh*t you not, on the day of delivery !
I've re-ordered one and now will need to wait a couple of months now.
Oh well, worse things could happen I guess and no-one was hurt, it's just a bad situation for all involved, the dealership, me, the plonker who stacked it and my poor wife who thought she was driving a new car home today.
On the plus side, the dealer has gone out of their way to look after us, we have another car we can use (Mini Cooper S) and it will be a 2010 (gotta look on the bright side I guess).

Great news, my wife finally got to drive home in her new toy on Friday !
i must admit i was very impressed with the delivery person, Amalia, at Austral (I know I know, "Austral" and "impressed" in the same sentence, go figure) she showed a real genuine interest in ensuring my wife knew everything about the car and made it a nice experience for her - much deserved after the drama in purchasing this car - so, all's good so far and a dramatic turnaround from this Dealer compared to last year.
i have no idea what it's like to drive as I haven't had time but I'll take it up to Nebo during the week when all the Ken Block wannabes go back to work. For now i can say that it makes my R36 look a bit "old" and "dated" ( to quote a family member) and I really really want that steering wheel !!!!
