so it's 4 weeks earlier than expected!

Delay caused by the wordwide demand for the R and the difficulty of getting a production slot.

I ordered the car on 13 August and had to rush around and get all the financing documentation done in 3 days as the dealer told me if I left it for another week I wouldn't get the car in Jan (need it by the 18th of Jan to replace the current car that is under lease). Looks like it will be a 8 month wait for me and I guess i will extend the current lease by 3 months.

I thought about a GTI but decided to wait. I will only end up regret settling for a GTI

received an emial from solitaire yesterday confirming car has been built.

Once dealers have advance "stock orders" in the system (as opposed to specific orders for customers), they can change the spec of the stock car up until the time the car moves to "frozen status" in the factory build schedule. Solitaire had a few cars (not allocated to customers) that were ordered on the factory back in January. They didn't move to frozen status until about a month ago, so because I got in and ordered my car just before then, they could change it to my spec. If everything went to plan, those cars should have been built last week (week 3.

I ordered an R from dealers floor stock for week 37/38 build and I am hearing, from the dealer, that we won't see the cars til Jan 2011.

Anybody else hearing the same ?

Hey I was week 37, and as of last week I got confirmed for end of Novemeber delivery.

That guy from wk 37 to 45.. Thats a huge change wonder what the reason was.

That's just nuts. I have never heard of an 8 month wait for a car. Maybe for a Bentley or a Lambo....but for a VW? Wow!

Well mine is built sitting at the dock waiting for the ship! it was built week 36 day 2 the order date looks to be in May of this year.

Mine is definitely week 38 build (last week) and as of yesterday, the status check in Nadcon confirms that it is "In Production". As at 16/9, it shows that it is at Checkpoint 3 in the production line, so I would expect that it will leave the production line in the next day or two.
Still hoping for late Nov/Early Dec delivery.

"Unfortunately the production schedule has completely blown out and there is now an 8 - 9 month wait from time of order"

Wow, i can't believe yours is already built, i ordered mine prior to yours from the same place also with an original NADCON order entry date of May and mine has been delayed.

Maybe it's the leather seats or sunroof holding it up, I was expecting mine to be delayed but glad it isn't.

I have every options available except electric seats, recaro's and 19's. We know there are people with 19's who've been into production.
Maybe it's 5 door models. Anyone with a 3 door been delayed so far?

Yes, mine. Not special about it. White 3 door, DSG,19's BlueTooth and MDI. Basic options. The rest later.

Do you have a NADCON print out which shows the order was actually in the system on or before the release date of the R (12/06/2010)? Did you ask for any spec changes?

No printout. Yes spec changes. Black to Silver 19's and BlueTooth added.
