Hey guys, just came across this video of the scirocco vs golf r. hope you guys like it. Look pretty cool. Now I want one or both if VWA brings both in.

The engine bay pic has to be one of the most....unexciting pics lol.
That's a cool! I wish i could have one of these cars
just thought i'd let anyone know who's interested that my dealership just called me to let me know that Volkswagen Australia has told them that the Golf R will be hitting showrooms in march next year, not June as expected...
I visited my local VW dealership yesterday and I was told because that because the new GTI is a 2.0T, the R would either be a 2.0L twin charged or a twin turbo. I'm actually alot more interested in it now... Has anyone heard similar?
i have dealt with those guys a lot (I am pretty sure i know which stealer you're talking about) and they don't know much at all. Basic forum warriors know more than their Sales Staff. Had one guy swear black and blue that a Caddy he was looking at was actually a Transporter.
As to the rumours of the twin turbo, it might be on the Rocco R but not on the R20T - the big diff there is the R is an AWD like all R's and the GTI is a turbo - as it always has been.

normally i wouldnt believe a word that the dealer says because you're right they know nothing about upcoming products and usually struggle with current model details as it is, but he called me out of the blue after I've already put my deposit down....i guess im just hopeful he's telling the truth as march would make me so happy, Q3 next year is much too far for my liking
Comprehensive details of both the Scirrocco R and the Golf R has been released and there is no twin turbo in there. Both run the same engine .... the Audi TTS engine, which is the 199kw/350NM 2.0T single turbo ....
Also delivery (of the Golf R) in Aus is dependant on RHD production which is only due to start in March so no Golf R likely in March I'm afraid. More likely post July .......

Your dealer needs to put down his crack pipe.
The Golf R is pretty much an S3 with a Volkswagen badge. That means 2.0T (just the single K04 turbo).
I knew that, but can you imagine it being a twin charge or twin turbo....
Either way i was there to see if i could test drive a 32 for the fun of it before i miss my chance and just to satisfy my curiousity to see what my car would be worth to trade in... but to my luck it was in the showroom with only 53km on the clock... so no test drive
OT, sorry, but i saw on some random googling that the Lexus ISF (V8 NA) has already a kit with a twin turbo. the turbos are very strange, the engine chucks the exhaust gases to the back mufflers and they hit the turbos, they are right at the back tucked underneath the rear valance and then feed back to the engine.... weird. surely there is loss over the distance travelled and temp changes.
Anyway, my point is that surely very quickly after the R comes out i am sure there'll be a TT kit in various stages. Indeed maybe even a twin-charge kit too. now that'd be interesting.
VOT, but seen how nuts the Typhoon RS kit is for the X5?
Back on the R, and i really wanna see how it feels on the road and hear how it rips up the fuel cause a car with an .:R badge needs to belt eardrums or its not an R

hey sharkie, i heard you already have a spot on the waiting list as well? where did you hear about the RHD production details?
i was expecting june/july at the earliest as well but it just seems weird for the dealer just to make up that VW Australia told them march delivery for the first shipment...haha maybe im just believing what i want to hear but fingers and toes crossed for that to become the truth...
maybe if VW gets them into showrooms in europe by early Q1 they might have a RHD shipment for Aus ready at the start of Q2 or something...
