  • If you won't speak to them why should they want to speak to you or do business with you
A bit harsh. A lot of communication is via email these days and the guy explained that he lives 200km away. I've phoned dealers, emailed dealers, and gone into dealerships and they all have their pros and cons. I'm surprised at how many neglect email - perhaps they get a ridiculous number of enquiries each day but a lot of them have contact emails that they simply don't respond to.

Even if it's an opportunity for a dealer to go, "Hey Bob, thanks for your email, give me a call on XXXXX and I might be able to help you out" sometimes that's all it takes e.g. his experience with the GTI.

If you do, stay away from Private Fleet.. I got my last car with them.. Horrible.. They’re a bunch of criminals..

If you’re not keen on emailing/calling random dealers, maybe try sending a PM to some of the VWW dealer members??

      • I did it by email , however you must be very exact about what specs you require , if it looks serious they will reply , but not generalisations .

I posted it at 8.30am and had first call within 30mins , deal done in days .

hrb93 where did you end up buying from .

I get it my business every day , "dreamers " , you soon recognize a serious email enquiry .

        • Hey guys, after some advice.

As most of you know, we picked up our new car on Friday. As part of the deal we got the VW Corporate Discount. On Pickup we didn't have any of the paperwork that said we were a member of this particular group however the dealer signed everything and we were to fax/email to him.

          Anyways......

We changed address and I don't think the membership renewal papers came to our current location (You see where i'm going here!) Turns out the membership has run out. What are our options now? As far as i'm concerned, the dealer has singed everything so we are in the clear, but I want to do right by him because he is a good guy.

          Any advice would be great!

          Cheers!

Do you have past records to prove membership? Technically, when you signed, if your membership is still valid, it is ok. For example, I have tax invoices/membership certificates for my chartered accounting qualifications - this professional body are part of the VW Corporate program.

I agree that Gold Coast VW are good- have done a number of deals with them. By having the paperwork to prove it, they claim the rebate back from head office.

              • We got the corporate discount though my wife to be with her CPA membership (or so she thought). Is simply renewing the membership enough?

Somehow she has lost all of her paperwork.

Yeah mate should be - although wouldn't you have the tax invoice from last year?

                  • You can pay the CPA membership online and get a receipt straight away. Your only at risk of losing your membership if you do not pay by end of March. As she is an accountant you would think she has a copy of last years for tax purposes.

                    • MY12 103TDi Black Pearl, DSG, Floormats, Fuel - $32,990 driveaway.

Probably gave a little bit of it back when I opted for $900 tint and sensors but figured it was worth avoiding the hassle.

                        • Hi everyone, how much of a discount would people expect on older models such as MY11 GTD

                          Comment

                          • If its anything to go by, my sister just signed for a MY12.5 GTD DSG with boot mat, front/back tints, MDI cable and metallic paint for $41k DA w corporate. RRP would have been calculated at a bit above $49k.

I would probably gun for 39-40k as the MY11 IIRC is missing a few extra features in the newer revisions

                            • Pirce on Golf GTI DSG

                              Hi all,

I've been looking into getting a Golf GTI for a while now, and its now time for me to get rid of my Honda Accord.

I've been shopping around online and reading some posts here. Also managed to visit a few dealership over the last week.

My current desires for the car are:

                              Sat Nav
                              Leather Trim
                              Sun Roof
                              18" Detroits Alloys
Parking Sensors/Distance control/camera (correct me if I'm wrong - I've been led to believe the camera installed will come with the reversing sensors).

I have been provided a quote of roughly 51,000 (that's only with my corporate discount), however the build wait time is 6 months....

I have also been quoted another car with slightly less (no sensors/camera).
Also for roughly the same price.

If anyone would like to shed some light on the pricing or what I should be aiming to get??? or who I should visit? I am based in Melbourne Victoria.

I've read around that people aim to get about 10-15% off but I am unsure if this is realistic?

Any help and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

                              Cheers

                              Michael

                              • What do you guys think? Best price for a 103TDI w/ Sports Pack?

                                Hey guys,

After months of researching, I have finally decided to buy a brand new 2012 Golf 103TDI with optional sports pack. The thing is, I have spent just as much time calling almost every dealer in Sydney and the best price I can get is $37,500.

What do you guys think of this price (RRP about $40k meaning I'm only getting a 7.7% discount)?. All of the dealers I have tried aren't willing to budge even if I make it clear that I am willing to sign the contract and put a deposit there and then. Ideally I'd like the price to go down to a max of $36k. Do you think this is a reasonable expectation? Am I still paying too much for this car?

Thanks so much for your help
