  • Hi all,

Looking at getting a Golf GTI, and had some questions...

    - Did prices go up? I see people saying GTI was about 41k rrp and now its more like 46k? (Or is this just the price including dealer delivery, on roads etc??)
    - I can apparently get corporate pricing through my leasing company. With the lease, I don't pay GST on the purchase price. Apparently with lease and corporate pricing they are offering around 41-42k driveaway (GTI, Manual, No add ons). Sounds to me like I can do a LOT better??
    - Is it the case that Corporate pricing can only be applied to RRP, or can you negotiate to the best price and THEN apply it as well, creating a greater discount? I have seen manual GTI'S, 2012 with no add ons going for about 38-39k at the minute, so thinking if I look at one of those and then try and apply corporate pricing I could get a better deal again? Or am I dreaming?

    Cheers!

Yes you are dreaming. Corporate discount can not be applied on cars that a dealer has already reported SOLD to VGA. The cars you have seen advertised recently at 38-39k were offered to dealers at a discounted rate to get rid of them.

However having said that, with the current drive away deals program you can also use your corporate discount, this means it should be possible to pick up a plain Jane GTI manual for around $37,500 drive away. (depending on stock availability)

Thanks for the reply - Been looking at a Candy White Golf GTI (2011 build, 2012 spec) in Victoria at the minute - $38,500 with floor mats, tinted windows, slimline plates and something else I can't remember... Asked if they could do headlight protectors as well and was told I may be pushing it. Oh and 30k trade in on my truck (2010 MN GLX-R Triton with 40,000km and a new set of tyres, and tub liner). Thoughts on if this is a good deal, or can I do better? Was thinking accessories I really want are:

              - Bluetooth (Standard now on 2012 I believe?)
              - Tinted windows (We all know dealers charge stupid amounts)
              - Floor mats
              - Headlight protectors
              - iPod cable
              - Maybe a rubber boot mat??

Open to suggestions here? Am I on a winner? What would you push to have included at the price, or could I do better on price and accessories?

              Cheers!

thats a really good price, i wouldnt be complaining. i got mine almost a year ago, as per my sig, 2011, 3dr man, bt, mdi, tint, weathershields, cargo mat, on road for $40k. at your price, its about as good as it gets. dont nickel and dime for a few hundred, just buy the car. if it was a few thousand off the mark, then for sure, shop around, but if its neither here nor there, dont sweat it and just put the money down.
im sure someone else down the road might get it for $38k, but so what, just buy the car and drive it

Yeah sorry, left out some important detail - Manual 5door... Stock rims which I prefer to the 18's anyway... But yeah I think you have a point. Arguing over small amounts when its a good deal may be a big loser in the end. Got a few more things I wanna check with the car (i.e. if my snowboard in its bag fits with the seats folded down) and I'll try to stop procrastinating...!!

                    • Discounts on a New 118TSI Comfortline?

                      Hey Guys,

I'm considering on buying a new VW Golf 118TSI comfortline and was wondering how much discount one could usually get.

I looked on carsales.com.au and with Paint, Sat Nav, Leather+Sports package it all adds up to RRP $42955 which I think is a little too much for a golf.

If i walked up to a dealership interested in buying this model at these specs how much discount could I manage, especially with MK7 around the corner.

                      Thanks!

The Mk7 isn't around the corner..... you are looking at another year or so before the first shipment even arrives.
The run-out sales don't even start until the dealers get their first set of the new generation model so you won't be able to use that as a bargaining chip.

I used this website: New Cars
Gave me a good indication of what the options cost and how much room i had to bargain.

If it still ends up too much you probably need to ask if you need sports+leather (5k+ option), or satnav (3k+ option) as this will drop the price significantly.

                        Just a quick rundown:
Base car drive away - 33.5k
                        Sports + Leather - 5k
                        Satnav - 3k
                        Paint - 0.5k

So if that is all you are after you should be able to get a new one around 42k

                        • Drive-away deals are on now, so there's a few grand off. And depending on the company you work for, may be eligible for a corporate discount.

Mk7 is not necessarily around the corner, but sometime next year?

                              • eBay is your friend. Just look out for a seller with good feedback as always. If you have a look around you can grab one with the latest updates for 859-900 landed in australia.
Alt I think Harding Performance do sell them too. Not sure on there pricing however.
