Yeah man. I don't trust dealers and their computers. I also don't trust the Ming Mole lol.

    Great spreadsheet but.

    Kudos

      • Question -
Does the RRP in the spreadsheet represent the list price only or does it include all the drive away costs?

Sorry for the dumb questions - I'm trying to figure out how to use it to see what price I should have been aiming for. As I said I'm not good with spreadsheets.

        • The "RRP" in the spreadsheet is the cost of the car, plus options, plus MADE UP onroad costs. Please note that it is in NO WAY ACCURATE, not even when it was produced. It may have been accurate for one of the cars on there (presumably the creater's purchaseed it). The calculation for stamp duty is based on the NSW formula only and is completely inaccurate for any other state, the dealer delivery is "conservatively high" for a non-GTI/R model, the CTP is wrong as is the registration (even for NSW), there is no accounting for LCT (not that it should be an issue) and there is no accounting for the cost of number plates!

So use as a rough guide only
I'll put this info in the first post. Cheers.

            Ok thanks for the answer.

I think I worked out how to use it now. Looks like (roughly any way) I paid about the right amount that I should have. I might try putting in the values for everything given to me by dealership and see if I can get a more accurate estimate.

            Thanks again for the clarification.

            • No problems. If you're wanting to figure out exactly what you have saved or could realistically aim for (based on average %'s of others etc), you could actually download the Golf GTI or Golf R price calculator spreadsheet that I've created, select your state, and then put in the car, option, dealer delivery, CTP, registration and plate costs which are applicable for you. You can use it for literally any car if you just put in your own figures... it's the calculations that matter rather than the contained options and prices.

Ok great - I'll try working it out with that one. Thanks again for the help.

                  • I went into Barloworld on Friday to discuss purchasing a white, 5dr golf gti. They said they had a demo and if I like they could get a driveaway price on it for me. It has 2,500 k's on the clock. Salesperson comes back with $46,500. Open up Drive (The car section in The Age ) Saturday morning and the same car is listed at $45,500.

                    What is with this?

                      • Agree to disagree on that one. I'm not blaming the dealer as such, more the dealer principle or the manager. Just don't believe that to be good business.

I agree with you based on the ad being placed before you made your enquires.

I think you may be missing the point........it was the exact same car listed for $1000 less. I went in 4pm Friday arvo so there is no way they could've changed the printed price between the time I went in and the ad went to press. Anyways, won't be first choice for purchase or service based on that.

I love my Skoda, but now with the little one I need a run about so figure the GTI is the logical choice without going over the top!

Is that price for DSG or Manual?

Is it a demo? How many kms?

Best I've been able to achieve so far is 2010 5 Door DSG GTI (silver) with ACC, Leather, MDI and Detroits, Drive-away $47,000 (must purchase before 29th June)
