Other dealers haven't though.
I guess it depends on how much room is left after negotiation.
Additionally, if you've already negotiated 10%, I think it's not sensible at all to actually expect $270+$550 off, since you aren't paying that anyway - clearly you've already got 10% off.
But as I said, the cost came from the dealer and VAG margins, so it's up to the individual dealer to evaluate with each customer.
True. But by that token, i signed for a 2011 model. I now get a 2012. They too have changed the terms, though i did not get a say.
So when i query it, its called "re-negotiation".....when they do it...its called....?
i know what yu are saying, and you are right. but i would like to think a contract is what TWO parties agree on. Just because i''m aiming for it to favour me, can it be called re negotiation even though they have already changed the terms (irrespective that the change favours mew too! ) .
Seems the terms are only really changing for the better as far as your concerned. Is the 2012 the exact same price? I would take the MY12 and be happy with it mate.
Ok. Question. Car soon to arrive. NOW..... when i signed the contract....WAAAAY back when....i got certain optionals.....HOWEVER..... dealer took his sweet time putting order in...as i later found out.... AND...now it turns out due to his delay, i get the 2012 model....in which the optionals in the contract are STANDARD in the actual car im getting. SO.... IMO... as it was his delay in the first place...and as the contract is for the 2011 model, which im not getting anyway, then i should not have to pay for those options...which are freeon the car im getting!!! Who agrees? and who thinks im wrong and why? Given that this DELAY cost me three more months of wait... i think on the day of payment if they arc up, i will probably walk away anyway. And then they will be selling the car on and not getting paid for those extras regardless!!!
Your wise opinions pls.
Mate,
I was in the exact same position in early this year. Agreed on a price and paid the deposit and later (from this forum) found that MY12 will have BT and MDI standard.
So, i contacted my dealer and requested her to renegotiate (like free window tint or RVC) but they did not budge and so i canceled the order (got my deposit back) and went to a different dealer and got a much better deal.
IMO what you are saying makes sense and you are right at ur place. So, stick with it and hopefully ur dealer will reduce the price or give you something complementary!
Good luck and do keep us posted.
Cheers,

Yes it DOES seem things have happened in my favour...from the standpoint of resale. The engine etc are all the same , be it 2011 or 2012. So to me its the SAME car. And im not concerned about resale. SO....the only REASON im gettin the 2012 is THEY were slow as snails in putting the order through! So boo to them. I'd rather have had the 11.5 or 11 2 weeks ago, than be waiting till early sept for essentially the same car. Keeping in mind that i was sworn that it would be mine in mid june. It was not even built till mid july!
Apprently the Sales manger is going to "chat" to me tomorrow, as i spoke to the salesperson today, and informed them of my point of view!
This should be good.......
I do understand the issue of the margin etc...... i MAY be placated if they throw other biscuits my wa , but i am not one to taken advantage of either. Im happy to pocket the cheque and at 60K, many other cars available to me! If the dealer is happy to LOSE a sale, over 700-800 dollars, says more about them and their poor sales mentality.
Sales manager spoke to me..... seems to be ok with my "suggestions". Still waiting for him to email me new contract, with ammended total. That will tell the full story. nervous tension.....

Will update tomorrow, post-"Chat".
Good points, i must of missed where you said you were getting an R, 700-800 is a pretty trivial amout (for them) so yeah i think they should work with you and give you a discount.
Im only after 103TDI with sports pack, carpet, tint.
Think its better to go with a my11 model without the bluetooth and MDI if its a lot cheaper?
nothing else really changed in my12 right? besides free Bluetooth and mdi as standard?
My budget is only $30k thats why. and i saw some for about $33k D/A on carsales.
Not sure where to post this but hopefully it may help someone here. I know most VW dealers are decent and will deliver your new VW with most likely 40km or less. Here's a link taken from Sydney Daily Telegraph about a lady who purchased a new car from a dealer which already had 185km on the clock, resulting in her taking legal action and winning. The tribunal found that a new car should have less the 100km on the clock.
Whats the difference in 2010 - 2011 - 2012 models?
There are quite a few bargains that can still be negotiated down for the 2010 models.
should i spend the extra for a 2011-2012 ? i know the 2012 has the free mdi and bt. This is mostly just a $1k option so not worth it to go 2012 if thats all the difference is.
Howdy guys, considering a MK6 GTI want your opinions on this:
2011 MY11 MK6 GTI
Manual 5dr
ACC
Detroit wheels
Reverse camera
35mths warranty
50kms
MDI/BT
$41,500 driveaway seems good...not to offend anyone but nervous about reliability issues, are they that common?
That is a very good price for a GTI with all those options IMO. As far as reliability is concerned, I have not really heard of any major issues with manual GTI.
Good luck.
