How to track the car you have ordered?

I just got an export from NADCOM showing a 'desired build week' 50.2011 - if that all goes to plan what milestones should I be expecting and aprox when would delivery be?

Scirocco wait times will be an unknown quantity at the moment. You'll probably be one of the first to receive one so we'll all probably have to look to your experience. My Golf R was on the ship 2 weeks after the indicated build date and will have taken 6-7 weeks to get here by the time it lands (on Monday ). Further two weeks for compliance, pre-delivery and should be ready to go.

Mate, u are another lucky buyer for R. mine placed order 23/5 and don't have VIN and even build date to tell yet. Don't know why my order take so long on queue? Have called VWA and get back with no further update as yet. I am start lose my patient. Should I cancel my deal and get back my fully deposit to find another dealer with stock? coz they promise me car can delivery around this Nov/Dec, but i don't think it will happen by now. Some advice pls, guys

about 5months.... :\ mine was order 26/5 left production 25/8 and got here 11/10. still waiting for delivery...

If your car takes as long as mine took you can expect devlivery in March 2012 (mine took 10 months one day from delivery to order). I too got frustrated but couldn't think of anything other car that would be as good so just hung in there (had to drive a non airconditioned 30 yr old car for 5 months which included the hot summer). Glad that I waited though and you will be to.

Delay could be due to a part shortage for a particluar option that you ordered. When I ordered the hold up seemed to be on DSG cars as manual cars were being delivered more quickly.

Are you absolutely sure there is no Estimated Delivery Date on your contract and clause to release you if not delivered within 14 days from that date? It's absolutely reprehensible that a dealer can string you along for an indefinite timeline, and essentially hold you to ransom with your deposit until your car eventually arrives.

I'm not suggesting for a moment giving up on the R. Just this particular R, especially if there is another Candy White 5 Door with all the fruit among the other dealerships. I'm sure they'll be understanding if you explain that you are still happy to purchase a car through them, but would appreciate them working with you to get something on a more reasonable timeline. This is probably just me thinking through the "in a perfect world" scenario. Either way.

While the dealer may not have control over the seemingly whimsical VW production schedule, they still are the end point for the overall experience. And it reflects badly on them if that experience is a frustrating or unpleasant one. It's in their best interest to get you into a car that you are happy with as soon as possible. They make $1-$2k (I had to lay down $2k) if they get keep your deposit. They make a lot more if they actually conclude the sale.

I'm sorry to hear they are giving you the runaround. I hope your dealer will at least hear you out. Best of luck, mate.

thx, just called salesman today, and he told me another story, he told me my car will land in Jan 2012, and he will send email about info about so far he know, still waiting the reply, hope he telling the true and i can't wait over a year for a car.

PS: about the Estimated delivery date, yup, they don't put a date for it coz he told me he can guarantee the exact date the car land. and I can't found any info relate about refund from the contract. It still killing me.

Highway VW in springwood. but anyway, I changed my order to another one which will land on Jan 12, possible Dec 11, and some options change but most the same, but the color is blue, not candywhite anymore. btw, congrats on your new car~

I got nervous after reading through this thread so I rang the dealer again. He says the car should be in Australia around 22nd December and at the dealer by 2nd week in January. That means it should be ready for my birthday! Whoohoo!

Yep. Eagerly awaiting delivery day. I wrote a fairly detailed account of the dates specific to my order in the MK6 Delivery/Ordered thread. You can jump to it here

From production to ship depends on the timing of the vehicle's transfer to Bremerhaven and the next scheduled Wallenius Willhelmson voyage to the land down under. I couldn't tell you how often WW runs that particular voyage. Hope that helps, cavinsoo.
