Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • So with the Jetta 11,000km overdue for its service and being too broke to pay someone to do it, I did my first DIY oil change on the MK5. Actually easier than a Mk4.
I'm not a fan of the plastic oil filter housing though, I don't know how it did not crack.
      MK4 GTI - Sold
      MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
      MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

Dude, why didn't you do a shout-out on the forum earlier? I'm sure somebody would have offered to help / mentor you through the process.

Thanks for that. I had no problems with it at all, it is very simple.

Today I replaced a blown headlight bulb, not the 1st time but it is again easier than previous generations of VW, with the twist out holder and all.

New wiper blades, did the Kmart refill trick found here in the Mk4 DIY. Saved at least $50.

and also does it matter if the top high pressure fuel sensor has a crack on it but no fault codes yet?

                          • The HFPF is probably the least of your worries if the follower has got to that point. Like where is all the missing metal now?????? What does the cam look like?

that's what i thought? from looking into the hole where the follower goes it looked okay and no funny noises or anything.
