No it has more storage area.Originally posted by G-rig View PostDoesn't the Tig just have more vertical space, not more area as such?
the rear seats can also slide forward to allow even more storage space whilst still sitting passengers in the rear seats.

I don't get it, the Tiguan is not a Golf GTI nor shares the engine with the Pirelli. So, why is it even mentioned in this context, let alone taking over 90% of this thread?! Rant over...
To be honest, for me there's no contest, the Pirelli engine is better than the current GTI for reasons already written above. I was hoping to find some arguments here to change my mind but no... Oh well, since there's no new Pirelli for me in 6 months or so the R will have to cut it...

The thread aksed which engine was better, the pirelli or the mk6.Originally posted by sabloke View PostI don't get it, the Tiguan is not a Golf GTI nor shares the engine with the Pirelli. So, why is it even mentioned in this context, let alone taking over 90% of this thread?! Rant over...
The tiguan shares the engine in the mk6 hence why it is being mentioned as a comparison.
No where does the OP ask about anything GTI specific.

This thread is really amusing to read.
We've got individuals who don't yet own their vehicles, taking the piss out of other people's rides, when they haven't test driven the vehicles (they are taking the piss out of). Sheer madness.
Some individuals are acting like a couple of kids playing Trump cards.Last edited by triode12; 10-03-2010, 09:20 PM.

i bought my pirelli a week ago for $38k (8000km), an ECU upgrade from the APR site would cost $1500, which would get it to 229kw...Originally posted by team_v View PostGood luck getting a 220+kw pirelli for under 40k.
The tig doesn't flip over when you go around corners.
Plus with the money you end up saving you can get suspension to sit it lower and tyres to make it corner even better.
Have fun in your impractical hatch.
No matter what i say you are still going to ignore that fact becasue of your fanboyism.
Oh, and i can take it off-road if need be.
Have fun doing that in the pirelli.
wow sit a tig lower lol have fun driving your tig
How is a golf impractical? it sits 5 people it fits luggage in the back, unless people are going to put animals, be a airport pickup boy, a golf is more than enough for normal people.
it is a useless argument saying Tiguan is better or worst, as they are totally different cars.
Ps having a 200kw+ on a tiguan is not the same as having a 200kw+ on a golf.
I don't see how having 75kw extra on the tig would shave 2-3 seconds off 0-100 (8.2 man 9.2 auto). While i'm doing the math, 20kw on a golf only increased 0.3 seconds for 0-100.Last edited by Guest; 10-03-2010, 09:28 PM.

At the risk of getting into a pi**ing contest, it wouldn't. The tig is a great little SUV, but it's a long way from being anything semi-sporty.Originally posted by den525 View PostI don't see how having 75kw extra on the tig would shave 2-3 seconds off 0-100 (8.2 man 9.2 auto). Anything that weighs 1500+kg is going to need a lot more than 200kw. A tuned K04 GTI with weight stripped out of it (1250-1300kg) will leave one for dead.
Anyway I don't even know why I'm arguing, it's a pointless and fruitless exercise... Clearly a 200kw SUV costing 40k or less is going to easily compete with some of the $100k pirellis that some owners (myself included) own. That AWD and adjustable rear seats is going to haul some butt!
Do the math... 240kw, 1250kg, low COG, tuned suspension. Tiggy will be left for dead on the straights and will be left sitting on its side going around corners.
Anybody who has a 'proper' sports car will be laughing their backsides off at this. A golf is pretty far from being a sports car, but to say it's comparable with a tiggy is just plain crazy.
