I have no problem with modifying cars, especially VWs in general but when people are like, "x car costs less, so with a tune it still costs less than your y car and is faster!" and vice versa.

Yeah that kind of crap gets pretty tiring. The longer you hang out on here the more chance you'll end up spending on mods.

It's a shame it doesn't sound as good from inside the car but i'm probably just used to it.

? You are defensive of your Pirelli purchase and don't really want to discuss.

My Polo is lighter, was cheaper and is red... So do I win?

If you are unsure about the car, its potential, what tuning companies have or are developing for it, why comment on its ability? I know you think your Pirelli is the bees knees, but there will always be other cars... And many of them better. New models offer new features and often more performance or fuel economy without resorting to bigger blocks / turbo's / etc.

Pirelli has lag so it's not that good (although for the money can't really argue).

I wouldnt describe the pirelli as being laggy. It just doesnt build boost like the standard GTI does. That is the biggest problem with a tuned GTI. The turbo rush is too low in the rev range and you lose traction way too easily. As mentioned makes it fun zipping about town. Just not as fun if you drive it seriously.

Good explanation, but think it would still be enough for most people as a daily drive. The low rev power/wheelspin on the GTI is still a prob if you gun it up a slight incline as i did with a MK5 DSG testdrive two years ago. The MK6 seems to put the power down better. Even the R32 traction light comes on a bit (was a lot better with the Gen2 upgrade) so you can't really win.

Anyway would be a bit too frustrating with too much power you can't use. All the street racers will eventually get fines and lose their license.

                  only 250KG??????? ONLY !!!!!?????

I'd agree with the other poster. None of these cars are true 'sports cars' by any significant measure. But I tell ya, a 1300kg car with 220+kw (albeit with a FWD) is a lot closer to that definition than a 190kw SUV with AWD. Hell, the wife's CX9 has a 220kw 6 cyl engine in it and AWD and it drives like a total barge!

The COG on that SUV would alone put it in a different class.....

Granted a Tuned R is going to be the puppy to watch out for. I'd still put my money on a tuned K04 over a tuned K03 and/or AWD SUV any day though.

Does the tiggy tip over if you go around corners too quick?

Good luck getting a 220+kw pirelli for under 40k.

The tig doesn't flip over when you go around corners.
Plus with the money you end up saving you can get suspension to sit it lower and tyres to make it corner even better.

Have fun in your impractical hatch.
No matter what i say you are still going to ignore that fact becasue of your fanboyism.

Oh, and i can take it off-road if need be.
Have fun doing that in the pirelli.

I think I originally started this post and I cant ever remember asking any questions about Tiguan. If I did I would have discussed in in the appropriate section.

Just trying to get this back on track!

The Tig actually has more storage space than the golf and the jetta.
