135i is overrated, i "did" have one until my missus took it from me! previously there was 2 keys, one for me one for her... but recently i can't seem to find mine (i bet she hid it somewhere), she goes to work before me, so when i walk into the garage the bmw is always gone lol

oh well don't really care, 135i is a very fast car without a doubt, but it has it's downfall as well.

Are you serious? A person I know who lives a few streets away from me has one and when he first got it I had a bit of a test drive, with the 6MT and it was beautiful leagues ahead of the Pirelli in my opinion. I only had a ~$40k budget for a new car when I was looking for one otherwise I would have chosen the 135i over my Pirelli for sure. I was still skeptical on getting a normal GTI like the other 50 billion people in Australia but having a limited edition model grabbed me into the VW camp

They're OK Bwen but nothing special.

It's just my biased opinion of course, but I reckon a worked relli is way more special than the 135. I dunno, I'm sure it's just me but there's something about beemers that just doesn't do it for me.

I've got a mate with one, and I'm still trying to convince him to go up against my relli down the strip. Bugger doesn't want any of it.

i'm not comparing it to a pirelli of course not, it is in a different league. But one is 100k (ticked nearly every box) and the other is 40k... is it worth 60k more? no.

It is definitely a very nice car or else i wouldn't of bought one, but all i'm saying is, for the price it is not exactly worth it, if my missus wasn't so in love with it, i think i would of sold it by now. as long as she is happy right?

I'm sure a lot of cars would be scared of your little vdub down the strip I'm tired of driving my Pirelli home from work and having all these cars edge me on to race. Thinking of debadging and throwing some TDI/FSI Pacific badges on

                      • Wow, you boys had fun last night ...

Missing the point about FWD v AWD though ....

Example: 199kw Scirrocco R and 199kw Golf R .... 0.5s difference 0-100km/h (Golf is quicker) and that is with the 250kg weight disadvantage of the Golf .... think a bit about that ....

Couldn't actually care if it relates to a Pirelli or a super modded GTI either as my intention was to show AWD v FWD.

Still happy to demonstrate to any 250+kw Pirelli what my wife's nanna 210kw Tig's taillights look like. Sure, around corners the Tig would be lagging behind a bit (it is just a SUV you know), but that AWD and 210kw makes it into a real Q car and so much fun dusting off "sports" FWD hatches in the real world. Wheelspin ? Nah, even with 210kw have none of that ....

Still not convinced?, how about you go find a S3 with the same power as your Pirelli and see what that will do to you.

My ultimate VW always have been 1 with AWD and lots of power ..... so far the Tiguan comes closest and the R will be king when it arrives. Once it arrives it will obviously modded to the same level of Kryten's Pirelli engine wise, difference is, down the strip there would be 2s difference ....

And yes, thanks Maverick for those links, thats what this thread was all about initially.

                        • oh no straight line speed too bad once it hits a corner, you would have to slam on your brakes, or else you would tip over.

Golf is a hot hatch, its all round abilities as a driver's car is better than a tig. You can mod it all you want with the tig, it is still a suv! It doesn't drive like a nimble hatch.

Stage 1 for the tig would give you 189kw... and yet with 189kw the pirelli would still burn the tig even with 2WD.

Like i said before, there is no way a tig can cut 2-3 seconds off 0-100. good luck imagining it though. (with the 2-3 seconds off, it would still only be the same speed as pirelli)

                          • The Golf isn't that hot a hatch, or nimble really compared to the Meganes & Focus RS etc (maybe even polo GTI is more nimble). Still can't argue with the overall package though.

AWD is clearly better but you'd notice it most on the track or in the wet. Around town FWD would be alight, I just don't like wheel slip/spin etc. An S3/Golf R would still be faster than a Pirelli with the same power (even though people try and argue the AWD is heavier, the FWD looses too much power in lack of traction).

                            • well s3 is like 80k and golf r is 65k... can't really be compared really. for the extra money = awd or they could of spent the money on more power.

The point is, you will barely see any of the extra power as you won't be able to get it to the ground.
You then have to consider how often you would even be using that obsene amount of pirelli power (which won't be manageable in FWD form) if you choose to upgrade instead of buying an AWD VAG alternative.

Is it justified when most of your driving will be commuting or going to the shopping centre to pick up stuff for dinner?
