As guy correctly pointed out, you need power, weight, traction, grip, low COG and stopping power.
Just having AWD and 200kw by no means makes up for the rest if it's let down everywhere else. You want something that will stop, turn and brake as well as grip.
I agree a worked Golf R is going to be one serious piece of kit though. I reckon I'd take one over a S3, simply coz I like dubs so much.
